There are no cures for the herpes virus. It is a virus and will stay with the person their entire life. The only thing a person can do if they have the herpes virus is to treat the symptoms.
There are a few different medication a person with herpes can take. There are three oral medications and one topical medication (cream).
acyclovir (Zovirax)
famciclovir (Famvir)
valacyclovir (Valtrex)

Not exactly a "cure", but
Famvir or Valicyclovir (Valtrex) once a day for three years. By the third year on that regimen, as many as 82% have no outbreaks at all.
Sexually transmitted diseases treatment guidelines. CDC MMWR Recommendations and Reports. 1993(Sept 24);42.
Research shows that taking acyclovir every day can prevent a person from being contagious.
R Patel, NJ Bodsworth, P Woolley, B Peters, G Vejlsgaard, S Saari, A Gibb, J Robinson. Valaciclovir for the suppression of recurrent genital HSV infection: A placebo controlled study of once daily therapy. Genitourinary Medicine 73: 2 (APR 1997):105-109.
Sounds pretty good to me.

I got diagnosed with the herpes simplex virus (type 2) about 5 years back, when I was still attending college and had a dumb one-night stand. I realize lots of young women say this, but I swear I had never done that sort of thing before. I just made a huge mistake that one time and suddenly I felt like I was going to have to live with the implications for the rest of my life. The worst part was feeling I could never date guys again. In the end, who wants to go out with someone that has sores round her "you know what" area? But since a friend shared this movie https://tr.im/3sfn1 everything changed.
Not only was I able to eradicate all traces of the hsv from my body in less than 3 weeks, but I was also able to start dating again. I even met the guy of my dreams and I'm so lucky to write that just last week, in front of everybody in a crowded restaurant, he got down on one knee and proposed to me! This method provided me the opportunity to be happy and experience true love again. Now I hope that I can help others too by sharing this story.

My best friend has had genital herpes for about eight months now, and it's been really rough. She's had about 7 outbreaks. Everywhere I read it says it stops flaring up so much after time, but its not getting less frequent for her. She's been on Antiviral meds the whole time, too. She also has type 1 diabetes which she has had her whole life, which really weakens her immune system. Will it ever get better?
But after a friend share this video everything has changed.

Herpes infection is viral in nature. Since it is a virus there is no specific cure. There are two types:
1. Herpes Simplex - characterized by painful grouped vesicles (raised fluid filled skin lesions) associated with fever, regional adenopathy (localized lymph node enlargement of affected area), and general malaise (a vague uneasy feeling of weakness). Recurrent episodes are usually less severe. These virus after the initial infection resides in the root ganglia especially involving the sensory nerves during reactivation which contributes probably to the pain.
Treatment is oral Acyclovir marketed as Zovirax given as one 200 mg. capsules five times a day for which primari infection is treated for 10 days. Recurrent disease are treated within 5-7 days.
2. Herpes Zoster - this differs in its location as to the Simplex type wherein it is distributed in a unilateral dermatomal (pertaining to skin) pattern. The virus that cause sthis infection is similar to Varicella virus seen in Chickenpox.
Treatment is also with oral Acyclovir (Zovirax), but with a higher dose of 400-800mg 5 times daily for 10 days to be started within 24 hours of onset of infection.
I hope this helps.

See your doctor. They may put you on Valtrex (once daily dose to take everyday) with or without symptoms. Or during a herpes outbreak, they may give you 1 gm pills for two days (morning and night doses). The 1 gm Valtrex are huge pills. But they're not too difficult to take.

There is no cure for herpes.
There are treatments for herpes that can lessen the severity of herpes, reduce the frequency of outbreaks, or shorten the length of an outbreak.
Valtrex (tm) is one of them.
