Like everything else it's bad if you over do it. Heck remember they use to say Eggs are bad now they say the incredible edible egg. The same has happened to pork as well.

Granted a lot of farmers inject hormones and stuff into their cattle now a days and no one knows what the long term effects from that may be till 10 or more years down the road.

I found an article from 1999 stating that lean red meats are good for you.

"Chicken and fish traditionally have been considered healthier than red meat because many cuts of red meat can have too much saturated fat," says Peter O. Kwiterovich, M.D., director of The Johns Hopkins University Lipid Clinic. "Now, lean cuts of red meat are readily available to consumers. If you follow a heart-healthy diet, it doesn't make a difference whether you eat red meat or white meat, as long as you choose lean cuts."

In my opinion it is not. Well then it depends on the quantities.

Red Meat provide a lot of nutrients such as folic acid. Red meat provide a good source of protein that you need.

Some red meat are lean and some not. Even in Beef, it depends which part of the beef you are eating! Near the bones it is pretty fat. Otherwise it is less fatty.

My advise would be to eat red meat in moderation and grill it instead of cooking it with butter or other saturated fat.

YES! Red Meat is very bad for the heart and should be avoided or eliminated all together if the person has a predisposition to heart disease. It's the equivalent of giving a diabetic candy!

yes, the animal fats in red meat have a negative impact on the heart, but I don't think a small amount of a lean cut once in a while would be too bad.

Yes, Very lean cuts are not as bad but it's all bad. Why would you question a person that studied this for twelve years? Well, the answer is, what relm of medicine did he study? But again, all, and I mean all disciplines, western, eastern, holistic, etc. say the same. Are you just looking for justification? Or validtion? No one in his right mind will tell you otherwise.
