Happy St Paddy's day (did you know he wasn't Irish at all? He was a Roman. The "snakes" he drove out of Ireland were the Druid priests who had tattoos of snakes on their arms.)

Corned beef brisket is a Jewish invention, meant as a way to preserve meat. The Irish only adopted this after coming to America.
In my family it's either FRESH Brisket, Irish Stew or Fish!
The Irish are big on fish.

Lamb! Corned beef and cabbage is starvation food, not celebration food! We've just adopted it 'cause, well, the Irish had pretty crappy lives not long after showing up here, and because it's really easy to cook - throw everything in a pot and go get drunk, it'll be ready by the time you come home. ;)

Well, in America we have it all wrong.. we usually eat corned beef in cabbage. However, in Ireland, they often eat bacon and cabbage, served with floury potatoes and parsley sauce.
With good soda bread on the side!

Corned beef and cabbage? This is my guess anyway. Maybe potato pancakes for breakfast or something to that effect...I don't know...I'm not Irish, though I dated a really hot Irish cop once...so I guess I had a little Irish in me for a little while anyway ; b.
