Yes it's fine to eat whole seeds (of an edible plant) as long as you chew 'em. The nutritional value is likely to be more or less the same, although any processing of foods usually reduces the nutritional value, so if anything the whole seeds will be healthier.

What seeds are you talking about? We eat poppy seeds whole. But sunflower seeds, almonds, cashews, those we chew up. You wouldn't eat cardamon whole. You'd break a tooth.

Most seeds, such as poppy, when eaten whole do not get digested. So there is no real nutritional value. If you sprout them, then chew them, you get TONS of nutrition.

Once they are ground they dont last as long because oxidation causes them to become rancid quickly, otherwise nutritionally they are the same. Just chew the seeds well.
