. . .Because I've never seen one. It all comes down to opinion, of course, but in my *opinion*, the quality of the food on Chinese buffets is generally worse than that at sit-down restaurants. It seems to me that Chinese-American food generally relies on quickly cooked stir-fry type meals, and having the food simmer there in hot plates defeats the purpose and ruins the flavor. The food gets all dried-out and icky, too. And plus, it seems like every Chinese buffet I go to has the EXACT.SAME.MENU as all the others; WHY?

I guess the reason I'm so cranky about this is that the last non-buffet Chinese restaurant in my town just went out of business, because people seem to be crazy about the buffets, since you can get "more bang for your buck," there--but honestly, I prefer quality over quantity. Perhaps I just haven't run into a good Chinese buffet yet; what about you?

The annoying thing about Chinese buffets is that people get so rude and push each other fighting over the last egg roll, chicken wing, etc, it just turns into a circus. I just avoid any type of buffet whatsoever because people behave like animals at them.

That's a tough one. My family is chinese, so we tend to avoid Chinese buffet's because the food isn't that good (they tend to be tailored towards the American palette). There were a couple in New Jersey that I tried that were OK though. One of them was called "Majestic Restaurant & Buffet" in Little Falls, NJ. They actually had some decent items that are not in the typical Chinese Buffets. I believe they also have a Dim Sum buffet there on the weekends, but I'm not 100% sure.

You can't compare a chinese buffet to the sit-down restaurant... notice that's why some chinese buffets are so cheap.

Many chinese buffets have extremely similar or the same menus because i guess that's what American people like (or think of when they go to a chinese buffet)...

There's no chinese buffet in my town and no good chinese restaurants either (i live in canada by the way in a heavily italian community) so i make the once a month trip out of town for the good stuff two towns away in the over populated chinese community. works for me.

I like the Chinese buffet by my house. I guess I don't know if I would like other ones.
