There are several types of rice - long grain white, short grain white, arborio (to make risotto with), jasmine, basmati, whole brown, and wild rice (not sure if that's technically real rice). I'm sure there are others I'm not aware of. As for healthiest, any rice that is kept whole - bran, germ, and starch - is healthiest. Both brown and wild rices are sold like this.

Wild rice is very healthy, very good tasting, very expensive AND it ain't rice !!! It's the seed of a wild aquatic grass found mainly in the Great Lakes area of North America.
Stick with the brown rice for healthiest REAL rice.

Asia has just about all kinds of rice. The one that spoils fast when cooked is called red rice. It's long and slender just like Jasmine rice, however it's not. Usually from what I know we don't use it like white rice, it's use for making saki or rice fermenting like wine. It's good. I bet if you cook it like white rice it's probably just as good, but we don't use it like that.

White rice works best for me! We eat them all the time at our house. It tastes great! Try looking for Jasmine white rice the next time you go shopping.

Unquestionable Brown. Buts its boring. Mix in some basmati and you're eating good and being nice to your body.
