heart disease is also GENETIC.
I have never heard of salt being a addictive. ANd YOU control your salt and fat intake. heart disease can be caused by high blood pressure and high cholesterol. A healthy diet and good exercise can help keep these things in check.
The truth is, people can tend to be LAZY and it is so easy to eat JUNK food all the time. Sometimes heart disease is something genetic that you can't control, but often it is. Don't blame it on big business, take responsibility for your own life and eat healthy and exercise.

Go to americanheart.org for more information.
The five major risk factors for heart disease are smoking, high cholesterol, diabetes, high blood pressure, and a family history of premature heart disease (that is, a heart attack before age 55 years in men and 65 years in women). Thus, heart disease is extremely prevalent because these risk factors are so prevalent---and they are prevalent because of lack of exercise and obesity amongst the Western cultures.
Salt contributes to the development of high blood pressure in those with salt sensitive hypertension (or high blood pressure). It isn't considered a cause for the development of heart or coronary artery disease.

High salt diets contribute to high blood pressure (hypertension)
It is the hypertension that causes increased wear and tear on the arteries and so causes heart disease (as well as other disease in other areas).

No, it's because too many people eat fast food nowadays and don't exercise. Fast food has loads of transfat which can help block your arteries (I think it's arteries...) which carries blood throughout your body. And, well, the lack of exercise part is pretty self-explanitory.

Salt is not addicting. Try injection 100cc of air into a vein.
