It's really up to you and how you feel about. For some, they see that as no big deal, for others they would absolutely not date, let alone have sex with someone who has genital herpes.

I have personally had genital herpes for over 5 years. Every guy that I have dated still chose to date me even after I told them I had genital herpes. Right now I am in a great relationship with my fiance.

Herpes is a virus and there is no cure for viruses. So, once a person has it they will always have it. Herpes doesn't cause major health problems though like some other STDs can. The worst thing that can happen is the outbreaks but they can be easily treated with medication. Condoms are the best way of preventing the spread of herpes but even this is not 100% effective.

It's really a personal question that you need to decided. If you can see yourself being with this person and possibly contracting herpes from them, then date them. But, if you absolutely can't see yourself contracting herpes from them, then it's probably a good idea not to date them.

Its your decision whether or not you want to. You should always use protection anyway, but when youre aware that your partner has HSV2 a condom is a must! It is still possible to get it, but the chances are reduced. Herpes is a funny thing since it can produce false negatives when a persons blood is tested for it, and it can be transmitted when the carrier is not having a visible outbreak. Just b/c someone has herpes doesnt mean they are promiscuous and they should not be looked down on. If this person was honest enough to tell you that they have herpes, thats a good sign. It normally doesnt affect someones life a whole lot except for the stigma that is attached to STD's. Usually, a person's first outbreak is the worst, and they will either get occasional mild outbreaks after that, or they will never get an outbreak again. Whether or not to have a relationship with a person who is HSV2 positive should depend on if its someone you can see yourself being with for a long time. You shouldnt overlook a wonderful person because they have herpes. But if you cant deal with it, its not fair to them to try to make it work. good luck.

Hello

There's a very real possibility that you will get the virus. It is a personal decision whether or not you are willing to risk it. Using precautions is a must. Your partner will have the virus for the rest of their life. I would definitely not have sex before marriage with this person and do some research into what its like living with herpes and or an infected partner. Check with your local hospital for support groups in your area. Hope this helps.

Theres more to a relationship than sexual activity.
Herpes type 2 is the genital form. As long as you use protection (condoms, washing your hands after you touch that region, even wear protection during oral sex) then your chances of getting the virus are limited. Kissing her is not a bad thing, and as long as she doesn't have a cold sore, the chances of you getting it that route are slim to none.
If u really like the other person, then go for it. I have herpes, and am happily married. Just use common sense.

If you've just meet somone and they were up front and told you before things got serious, than that says alot about that person. I wasn't so lucky!! Me on the other hand am very honest about it. In 15 years I've never passed it to anyone. It in no way has affected my life and I do not take prescription drugs for it. I am taking Red Marine Algae for it. ( that's a herb) It's suppose to cure it.

You can have a healthy relationship with a partner with herpes, condoms and proper medication work wonders. So it depends on how much you want this relationship to go forward.
