I glad that you are still alive, if you can answer my question. What is the taste like anyway ?

♡I certainly have and I love it! Usually I eat 'fugu sashimi' though and a complete fugu course.(*^o^*) All the dishes having fugu in them.
I live in Japan and I have eaten it quite a few times and I am still alive!(^_-)-☆ I have personally NEVER experienced the 'numbing sensation someone else mentioned while eating it. It's very bland when prepared as sashimi, just a light taste. It is served with green onion, lime and ponzu (a delicious dipping sauce)...so it takes on many flavors. It is also prepared other ways and has a variety of tastes, usually light.
Take a look at some of the ways I like to eat fugu:
☆Fugu sashimi:

☆Fugu karrage:

☆Fugu nabe (chirinabe):

☆Fugu nigiri - sushi:

There are quite a few ways to eat it! I think ALL are delicious!
In Japan a "fugu chef" must have a license/be certified to be able to prepare and serve fugu. They must be skilled in the correct procedures for cleaning, preparing and serving fugu. Not just anyone can serve fugu!
☆I do not recommend anyone try to prepare and eat it themselves!!

Hope this helps!♡

I've had it several times, on different trips to Japan. The taste really depends on how it is prepared. At one restaurant I was served blowfish fried, boiled, raw, pickled..... all had different tastes. Some was good, some was just ok. It was fun to try something new :)

Yes. There is usually slightly some trace poison left over unintentionally. Your lips will start to numb slightly. If they get number, you wonder if you are dying. Usually, you will not die.
Since you think you are going to die, and not drive home, you might as well drink more sake. Then the danger passes. the tiny amount of poison was too weak.
They you have a great sense of relief and achievement; plus a great story.

Yes, others will eat blowfish sushi. I wouldn't eat blowfish. If it's not prepared correctly, it could be your last meal.

Fugu!

Consistency of white Tuna but transparent... taste very delicate... I thought bland but depends on individual taste!

Expensive then, very expensive now I am sure. Had it years ago.
