tell her why you want to become a vegetarian also, she might be worried about your protein intake. if she is worried you can buy mung beans and then put them in cold water overnight, and eat them in the morning (lots of protein) i do it :):):)

I had this same problem when I was younger. No one would respect my decision. What you have to do is research it and become as educated as possible so that when someone asks you about it and asks if you'll get the proper nutrients and everything, you can tell them, "Yes and here's why.." Present them with the information. Let them know that you'll be living a moral and healthy lifestyle. I tried for many years to be a vegetarian as a kid and no one would respect it. Finally when I was old enough I got a job and bought and prepared all of my own food. That really helped. The Internet will be your best friend when it comes to learning about vegetarianism. Good luck.
All the best!

What logical reason can your mom have to stop you from becoming a vegetarian? It can only be that she is worried about you protein intake, but if you can assure he that you can get enough protein from nuts, lentils etc. I think she may understand better.

Just don't eat the meat try not to make comments on your family's eating and if they ask why not tell them simpaly you just want to eat light for a little while...expecially lunch and dinner that is when you body is burning the most calories...you don't have to make it known to every one to be successful at being vegitarian if they are giving you problems.

you still need to repect your mother, but explain why you don't want to eat meat. Its good if you know why you want to be a vegetarian, not only to tell your mom, but for yourself
