well glitazones do cause weight gain that's why most patients don't like taking them...for type 2 there are sulfonyureas, these are type one and 2 generations-such as chlorpropramide, tocanide, and 2nd generation: glipizide, gliburide...they work pretty well to manage type 2 diabetes...you have to watch out for hypoglycemia as your main side effect with these drugs and sometimes a disulfiram reaction which is just nausea, dizziness, flushing of the skin-just a little uncomfortable....there are also alpha glucosidase inhibitors that just prevent the glucose from being broken down in the gut after eating right away-so they delay the presence of sugar in the blood-these are acarbose and miglitol-they cause some GI discomfort- pain, flatulence-
hope that helps!

Forget anything you have ever been told about Diabetes.

And get this - it has nothing to do with insulin, exercise, diet or anything else you've heard in the past. It's all based on latest breakthrough research that Big Pharma is going Stir Crazy to hide from you.

I started Byetta injectable about 6 weeks ago specifically because it actually may help me lose some weight. This is a known side effect of Byetta. It's working...... a little.
