Many insurance plans give you free stuff. My
Blue Cross - Blue Shield covers lancets, test strips and my Rx's for free. I have type II diabetes. I take a pill called advandament 4/500. I actually cheat a lot with the sweet stuff,
but every morning my sugar count is between
85 and 100. perhaps your doctor could prescribe it for you and it may be free.
Sorry you have type I, but good luck!

well Im not sure what your situation is but if you can afford to get Blue Cross/Blue Shield I know for a facr that there is no pre-existing waiting period, I just got coverage thru my work & I didnt have to wait the usual 12 months pre-existing period to be covered for all my diabetes tests & supplies like w other insurance & also like the person above mentioned I dont pay anythin out of pocket for my test strips but I do have a Rx copay, it all depends on the plan you get...best of luck to you I know how hard it is to get covered, Ive been Type 1 for 19 years & it can be a beotch to find good coverage
also untill you can get coverage chck w the manufacturer of your meds to see about a no insurance help plan, I use Novolog & they offer a 3 month at a time program, you fill out the pprwork & gfo thru your doc & you get your insulin for free.....most manufacturers have these types of programs so FOR SURE chck in to it, also you can usually get your syringes & possibly your insulin thru your local health dpmnt for free or low cost

well if you have never had ins b4 most carriers will consider it a pre-existing condition and you will not be covered for any diabetic related problems...if you have had continuous coverage they cannot deny you, on the other hand if you have not had coverage they will give you a waiting period no more than a year after that they cannot deny benefits...if you can afford coverage it is worth paying for the year and eliminating the pre-existing claus...good luck
