Yes...oriental peoples (includes chinese, vietnamese, etc...) eat dogs.
In Vietnam. there are certain races of dogs bred especially for food...
In some places in the orient they eat snake, cat, dog, water rats, and even monkeys.
(A delicacy in one asian country is to eat the monkeys' brain... with the animal still alive (that really sounds horrible doesn't it!)...
And how about japanese sharksfin soup & swallows nest soup.

Fried grasshoppers, worms, larvae, spiders and other "delicacies" eaten by the native tribes in Latin America, Africa, and Oceania (Australia, New Zealand, etc.)

For the same reason any other half-starving poor person would eat a dog, or maybe a cat. It's not a delicacy, it's decent, edible, meat, and you'd have to be stupid, or rich, to waste it. It's life is especially short if it's a sick or particularly vicious beast, while other dogs make good watchdogs and companions. 100 years ago Americans ate dogs and cats too, and in 100 years from now, our Chinese masters will eat steak while we are lucky to get ratatouille.

Most Chinese are disgusted by dishes made with cats and dogs. While I don't rule out cases in some Chinese provinces where Chinese see these dishes as exotic, cats and dogs are certainly NOT on the menu of most Chinese.

Many Asian cultures eat both cats and dogs. Some even eat horses. That one is the worst of all because tetanus vaccines are usually made by injecting the horse with the bacteria then harvesting the antibodies.Eating horse meat can cause you to have an allergic reaction to the shot. Many countries consider dogs a delicacy.Westerners find this so objectionable because many of us consider our pets to be a part of the family.Hindus find it repulsive that we eat cows because to them it is a sacred animal. It's very doubtful that you'll find these ingredients in Chinese food bought in a Chinese restaurant though

One of my lovers is from Red China. She told me that the British in Hong Kong tried to stop Chinese from eating dogs. They seemed to go along with this. Sudddenly, many restaurants had signs saying "Gumyut ngodei yao gao yook." That means "Today we serve nine meat". Gao is the Cantonese word for nine. It also means something else. Guess what! Correct, it means dog as well. Bi-Chen hasn't heard of anyone eating cats, but dogs are often eaten in parts of China. I hear that Vietnamese eat cats, but I don't know any of them now to ask. EDIT: Someone said Chinese don't eat cows or pigs. That is not true. Ngao yook is beef and jyu yook is pork in Cantonese. I eat much Chinese food, but I haven't tried dog meat.

Several of the Asian countries do this. But westerners eat just as gross of things and under terrible circumstances as well. I don't think it's fair to judge them on that while we gorge ourselves on Big Macs, Chicken McNuggets, and Pulled Pork.

And don't forget that if you buy a meat that's shipped in from Asia, dogs and cats may have been ground up and put into their feed. This means that you are also eating cats and dogs...
