i got genital herpes from him and he knows what i'm going tru because he got tested for all stds including HIV. i was just concern because i really don't know what else to expect after married with him for 7 years and these things come up. now i am worried freak because i know it's possible that i might have HIV because of unprotected sex. my concern is do any of u feel the same way like feeling uncertain of having HIV since u'r exposed to herpes? thanks...

I went through the same thing. I contracted genital herpes (didn't know it at the time) and had an outbreak. So I went to the doctor and they confirmed I had it. They gave me an HIV test and wanted me to come back in another 6 months to get another HIV test done. Luckily I didn't have HIV but I did have HPV. So, I was diagnosed with genital herpes and HPV when I was just 17 years old. I was completely devastated. Now that it has been 5 years I have learned to deal with it. It's honestly the last thing on my mind. I never think of having genital herpes unless I hear someone talking about it or see a commercial or something. Don't worry, with time you'll be fine!
Also, I would personally wait 6 months to have sex with your husband. At least wait until the HIV results come back. Good luck to you!

I don't really understand your situation. You got herpes from your husband or from someone else? Either way, do not have sex if you are having an outbreak or if you feel one coming on, or if you have any mysterious bump, itching, rash or lesion.
Contrary to what others are saying, herpes is not easily passed if you're not having an outbreak. Yes, it is theoretically possible, but unlikely. I know this because I first got herpes ten years ago and I've had a grand total of three outbreaks. My husband has never gotten and we've had plenty of unprotected sex every which way you can think of over the last nine years. I also had two children during that time and they were fine. I've been very lucky, some people have monthly outbreaks. I honestly forget I have it most of the time because it's not a problem at all.
There is no reason to think if you are positive for herpes you're positive for HIV too. Where would you have gotten it? Again, not understanding your situation if you have a husband...

Assuming that you have been faithful to each other for the duration of your marriage and don't have any other risk factors for HIV/AIDS then you should be fine. Herpes is passed easily between partners, even when there it's not active. It does not cause HIV, however.
Your doctor can advise you on precautions to take and when it is safe to have sex.

If you love your husband, you will tell him about this and NOT have sex with him until you are cleared for AIDS. Did your doctor tell you that Genital Herpes cannot be cured, only controlled? Even while under control, there is always a chance to spread it to your sex partner.

wait to have sex with your husband. the last thing you want to do is give him aids and have him react differently than you have reacted to it and have him die within a year. i am very sorry for your situation.
