You would need a kiln to melt it down. Perhaps at a local junior college or a crafts store you could find a kiln that you could rent on an hourly basis.

subject the wine bottle to intense heat inside a kiln and melt into the shape of a serving tray.

They're so cool! I see them at the Binder Twine Festival all the time. They're so expensive! I think it'd be cool to know how to make them too. It would be a neat Christmas gift! Check the Internet on how to melt glass-safely! Good luck!

The site below has quite a few to choose from that are not very expensive. A few you have to call and ask for the price. But the most expensive on the list is $30.00.

You...do not? you may want to do something a lot less risky inspite of the undeniable fact that, my dad and that i did it. Take the bottle and placed it on a hearth. (campfire, outdoors. no longer on your hearth) save stoking the fireplace for some hours (truthfully to save it warm) then placed a pair more effective logs on and also you may bypass interior and go away it till morning. We did that with a snapple bottle and it grow to be somewhat cool.
