One of the complications of diabetes, and the reason it is so important to regulate your blood sugars, is peripheral neuropathy.
Basically, pain in the hands and feet caused from damage to small calibre nerve endings found in the extremities.

There really is no cure once they are damaged, but the pain can usually be controlled.

This is a sign you should be seeing your doctor more regularly, getting A1c tests every 3 months, and doing your own blood counts at least daily, more often if you are on insulin.

What you are experiencing is called peripheral neuropathy. This is caused by damage to nerve ending when the diabetes is not kept under control. There is nothing you can do to correct what damage has already occurred, but you can prevent it from getting worse by keeping your blood sugar levels in control. Be sure to see your doctor on a regular basis and get tested frequently. Control your diabetes and it won't control you. Most diabetic can lead normal lives if they can learn to manage their diabetes.

I am a diabetic, for the past 4 years and am on medication for its control. I am 54 years old and overweight (95 kg) for my height of 5'7". Of late I have been experiencing a certain reduction in sensation and sometimes acute pain in two toes of my right foot. I also find a little difficulty in standing erect. To counter this condition I keep my blood sugar level under check by taking recommended medication timely and doing stationery cycling for 30 minutes everyday

Sometimes my leg's and arms have pain, but I'm not sure if it's linked together, I get up, walk around, and do more thing's, make more use of my hands, and it usually goes away :)
if it persists, I'd advise to go to the doctor and see what they say. Perhaps it's arthritis?
