I know that most beans can be eaten raw before they are completely "ripe" and are quite nutricious. That is when the beans are still soft and have not yet hardened.

Edamame is green ripe soybeans, but I think it's parboiled (probably like boiling corn on the cob very briefly just to break up some of the starch and release the sugar.) I'd think they might be hard to digest completely raw.

Raw Soybeans are "POISON." I read it. Always cook before consumption!

Yes, we have them in our grocery stores down here. They are very good. You cook them like you would cook regular beans. They are very nutritious.

They wouldn't kill you, but they would be extremely hard to digest and probably wouldn't taste very good. It would be like eating a raw peanut.
