Vegetarians think its wrong to eat meat because of how the animals are killed in slaughterhouses and are hurt. Being a vegetarian is also better for your health, the animals and the enviorment. Plus, meat isnt really that healthy for you and vegetarians live longer than meat eaters. Plants dont have feelings and their not alive.

which class r u in ? learn the difference between plants & animals. we don't kill all the plants we pluck fruits . vegetables & leaves from the plant. they have rudimentary feeling. where as animals for food; go & see how a goat bleats in the hands of a butcher. yes we do kill animals also. who has not killed cockroaches , ants , mosquitoes , flies & bedbugs ?all therse animals also have feelings . it is not the killing part. it is just we want to be vegetarians by choice. any objection ? i am vegetarian because i want to be healthy. who knows what sickness the animal had when it was killed ?

no plants dont have feeling stupid!!! They dont have nerves. There are dozens of reasons why you should not eat meat. Meat is gross and fatty, bad for the heart ect. And in one acre of land you can vegies and feed 200 people but if you had an acre of 25 cows you would only feed around 40-60 people. What do you think know STUPID!?

Animals have brains and a central nervous system. They feel pain and have been designed with a means to avoid pain and death by running away or fighting. They have emotions, and can experience fear, sadness, and happiness. This we know from observation. Plants, on the other hand, do not appear to have a means to feel pain, don't have emotions.

I'm vegetarian and have not eaten meat for more than 25 years. However I carried on eating fish for another 12 years. What made me stop was I was thinking one day about how eating sprouting seeds is good for you and then started wondering if it was fair to eat bean sprouts as they are still growing (unlike plants that you cut when you gather them). This made me realise that if I was worrying about bean sprouts, I had no business eating fish so I stopped immediately. I now haven't eaten fish for many years, though I do still eat plants. I did toy with the idea of only eating nuts and seeds and honey, but I have so many problems keeping my weight above 7 stone that it wouldn't be practical.

Yes, "Why do vegetarians?" what? vegetarianate?

well, becuase they are boycotting the meat industry, which traps animals in small cages so they can't move around, pump them with drugs and steroids, and eventually slaughter them by putting them in machines which decapitates them. people could eat meat, sure, but do they have to do all that crap and make the animals already miserable lives even more depressing?

and besides, some people might have heart problems and can't eat red meat, or some people can't eat meat because of other medical probelms. some meat is hazardous and unhealthy, like beef, which rots in your colon.

or they just dont like it.

you don't have to be a dick about people who think/feel differently than you.

Every being on this planet has to eat something to nourish itself. The fact that I can choose not to nourish myself by consuming the rotting carcass of a formerly sentient being who was made to suffer it's entire life before being slaughtered for my benefit makes me a happy herbivore. Plants don't have a nervous system or a brain and aren't tortured for my benefit. It's a ridiculous comparison.

Plants don't say anything when you kill them. They don't try and get away if you stab them. Killing plants is the lesser of two evils. Now go get a life and stop asking stupid questions.

That's a really stupid question.Someone always comes on here and asks that question.I don't think eating meat is wrong it's just my own personal choice not to eat it.If I see someone eating meat I'm not gonna go up to them and say "why are you eating meat, eating meat is wrong".They eat because they choose to and it's their choice to eat it.Plants are alive, but they don't have brains or nerve endings. When a carrots about to be pulled out of the ground does it flinch or do anything,no,when a pig or any other animal is about to be killed it runs,it's their instinct to try to stay alive.I don't agree with PETA or people who protest and hold up signs that say "meat is murder".I also don't agree with people who ay god put animals on earth so we could eat them or that you have to eat meat. It's your own personal whether you eat meat or not.

Please check previous questions. Somebody asks this everyday! Don't ask dumb questions. I don't eat meat because of all the hormones they shove into animals and chickens are stored in stacked cages and they poop on each other, and some are in cages with dead chickens (I've seen this with my own eyes). It's gross and not healthy! Plants may have feelings, but they definitely weren't excreting puss and hanging out with a rotting corpse roommate before I ate them.
