Herpes
A group of related diseases and the viruses that cause them. These diseases are marked by the development of blisterlike sores on the skin or mucous membranes of the body. The herpes virus may invade the mouth region, producing fever blisters or cold sores, or may cause a sexually transmitted disease in which the painful sores appear on the genitals. Chicken pox is another disease caused by a herpes virus.
# After an infection, the virus remains dormant and may return at a later time. Shingles, for example, is a recurrence of the chicken pox virus, and outbreaks of genital herpes recur over time.

Genital herpes, commonly known as herpes, is a sexually transmitted disease (STD) caused by the herpes simplex virus (HSV). This viral infection has no treatment, but with potent antiviral treatment, its symptoms can be lessened and kept under tolerable limits. Valtrex and Famvir are among the 2 most prescribed medicines for the treatment of both male genital herpes and female genital herpes. These 2 drugs can delay the outbreaks of symptoms and can also prevent herpes transmission between sexually active partners. The herpes simplex virus causes genital herpes, cold sores, herpes zoster (shingles) and chicken pox.
Herpes simplex virus
The herpes simplex virus can be spread through any form of person-to-person contact - be it sexual or asexual. But transmission of the virus occurs mostly during sexual contacts. But if a person has an active outbreak of herpes, the infection can be transmitted through mere skin contact with the infected area. The virus usually enters the body through small openings in the skin. The herpes virus cannot stay alive for too long outside the body. But once it's inside your body, it is invincible and cannot be killed or eliminated. This is why Valtrex and Famvir are the most sought after herpes treatments. Let's find out more.

Genital herpes can be very painful when you experience the symptoms. Even when you had suffered from an active herpes outbreak earlier but seem to be out of danger now, the virus can spring back to life anytime and give you those painful blisters and itches. So getting quick relief from an active outbreak of herpes is just as important as reducing the risk of potential future outbreaks. Valtrex is the medicine you can trust for both. This medicine is also used for the treatment of cold sores in children under 12 years and chickenpox in children over 2 years. Valtrex is also recommended for the treatment of herpes zoster in adults.
How does Valtrex work?
Valtrex contains valacyclovir as the active ingredient. Once it goes inside the body, it changes to aciclovir and prevents the action of DNA polymerase, a viral enzyme. The entire process prevents the herpes simplex virus from replicating and infecting the healthy cells.

I am absolutely terrified and I feel so alone. I just found out last week that I tested positive for hsv1 and 2. I have been with the same man for the past 10 years and within the last year found out that he has cheated on me with numerous women. I am so scared that I can give it to my children by kissing them and them eating with me...I feel like my whole life has changed. And even though the nurses, my doctor, and websites say that a lot of people have it I still feel like I am by myself. My self esteem has dropped and I feel like I have been used up. But now, My life is very happy.

Herpes simplex virus causes a skin infection that is recurrent and cannot be permanently cured. The virus is of two types commonly referred to as HCV1 and HCV2. This infection causes blisters and sores. After an initial attack, it may recur again after some months or years. Anybody can get this infection and it spreads by body contact. Herpes simplex virus remains dormant in the body forever and flares up for some reasons. As this infection is fairly widespread, especially in sexually active individuals, it is important that we understand more about it and know how to prevent it. The common sites that get affected are lips and genital area. The herpes on lips is also called as cold sores and the herpes on genital area is known as genital herpes.
Symptoms of Genital Herpes
Genital herpes shows different sympotoms in different people. Some may have sever problems while others may get the symptoms so mildly that they may miss it for something else.
Genital herpes begins with first episode within a fortnight of contacting it. Some people get sever symptoms of herpes in this episode while others may get very mild symptoms of herpes during the first episode. The main symptom is apperance of lesions. these may be pimples or blisters which will crust and heal within a month. Painful urination and heache may occur during the first episode. some people also show flu-like symptoms during the first episode.
Some other people may get very mild symptoms and take them as insect bites, rash, ringworm etc. as these symptoms in these people resolve soon, they are left unaware of the fact that they have herpes. The blisters appera on the genitals and near genitals. the common areas are- on the vulva, penis, near anus, thighs, and inside vagina.
In the next episodes the symptoms of genital herpes may look like- ingrown hair, insect bite, pimple, spots, etc.If blisters form they crust over in few days and resolve. most of the following episodes resolve much quickly than the first episode. Symptoms mimmicking hemorrhoids may also appear on the anus. If you get repeated fissures or any other symptoms near or on the genitals, you should get screened for genital herpes. On avearge, a person having genital herpes from HSV2 may have three to four episodes of recurrance every year. Many times, despite the virus being active near the genitals, one may show no symptoms. That is called asymptomatic shedding . Many people feel some pain, tingling or itching before active onset of genital herpes. Within a day or two lesion appear on the affected area.
