well, a number of very recent research works show that allopurinol is useful in heart failure. You shouldn't worry about the side effects of allopurinol on heart. I guessed there wasn't an important one. but just to make sure i checked my references once again and it was approved. You can always go over a very prestigious website (http://www.nlm.nih.gov/medlineplus/druginfo/medmaster/a682673.html) which contains medical info for general population and belongs to NIH.
I can provide you more information and also the full text of recenently published papers on beneficial effects of allopurionl on heart failure.
i hope this helps

Gout is a condition where uric acid crystals build up in the body.
This can happen in the area of the big toe and cause a lot of pain.
Our foods contain purines; some foods are higher in this than others.
The doctor may place you on a lower purine diet (of which they will usually provide you a list of foods to avoid. There is also medications that can lower the uric acid in the blood
Here an alternative way to cure gout?

Gout is painful so I wish you the best of luck. My father in law has suffered from gout and he changed his entire diet, knock on wood, and it hasn't returned. He stays away from beans and lentils, no fish or fish products. The website will tell you more. In fact I think it just about covers everything for gout.
