What about personal responsibility?
can't saturated fat kill over time too, or what about alchohol, or unprotected promiscuity.
Who should we sue for our own choices?

The government makes more money per pack than the tobacco companies do. Big Tobacco has a lot to do with it , but look who has the most profit without doing anything and youll have the perp responsible. As for the guy under me I started while drinking and was hooked the first night and since alchohol isnt illegal and it is mind altering how is it my fault?

The government is never held accountable for their actions because all judges are government employees. People tend not to bite the hand that feeds them.

They way they talk about how horrible smoking is, they should just make it illegal, but they don't want to lose out on all of that tax money, do they? In my state, it's over $1/pack!

Because people hate taking responsibility for their actions. People that are greedy enough to sue a tobacco company because they were dumb enough to smoke deserve the cancer they get as a result. Honestly who doesnt know cigarettes are bad? Examples of this can be found everywhere. For instance the guy who sued McDonalds for making him fat, families of victims that sue gun manufactures, the guy who tried to sue Home Depot when he was glued to the toilet seat ( honestly who doesnt look before they sit). Whats next suing Ford when a drunk in a Ford truck kills someone in a crash? It just comes down to one or two things greed, or a lack of personal responsibility.

Because everyone needs a scapegoat. Why take responsibility for your actions when you can make money blaming someone else!
