Aren't people who eat only plants, technically eating animals still or essences of animals. Because isn't fertilizer used to grow the vegetables, and doesn't the fertilizer come from animals, And the nutrients from the fertilizer absorbed by the plants used for energy so aren't you technically eating animal products?

This is not some new revolutionary idea this is exactly why Vegans don't buy vegetables from normal stores, they go to places that use no fertilizers or natural ones that do not come from animals.

Vegetarians on the other hand have no problem eating by products of animals, such as honey, so this is null and void for them.

That's the way an ecosystem works, Einstein. Whether humans intervene or not, living things die and as their bodies decompose they add nutrients to the soil so new plants can grow and new animals can eat them and the whole cycle begins anew. It's not like humans invented the idea of using animal matter as fertilizer; nature did.

Most Vegans like to grow their own food. A lot of them actually dislike the meat industry and American society, in general, so much that they turn to DIY (Do It Yourself) as a life source. They don't like to depend on food other people acquired for them. I personally believe that it ruins a lot if you just sit by while others fetch your food.

Someone said something about rinsing the food... Did you miss the part where he said the fertilizer is "absorbed by the plant"? You can't rinse out the cells, kid.

Maybe. But if you've ever heard of composting, that is made from vegetable matter, not animal matter and it is used as a fertilizer. But I don't like to eat animals because of the hormones pumped into them and the disgusting conditions they live in. Not to mention that meat is chock full of cholesterol and fat. Veggies have tons of vitamins and fiber!

yea, so keep stuffing your face with steak, more veggies for us! lol

but seriously, enough of the "militant vegetarian" jokes...the nutrients themselves are absorbed, which can also be obtained from non-animal sources as well. and it's not like animals are being born just to make crap, it's more that the meat industry needs a place to put some of it, besides the massive cesspooles :)

also, if you've ever smelled them "spreading" manure...it's rarely spread on large farms...they put all animal waste in a basin and spray the liquid...yea, into the air, and thats how you smell it from so far away.

Actually, feritlizers are made from nasty chemicals, the animal droppings in question are not properly disposed of and are used to ruin streams and rivers. Sorry. There are "green fertilizers" which are cover crops that fix nutrients into the soil to enrich it. For example, soybeans fix nitrogen.

good point, but sometimes the fertilizer isn't from animals

The thing with most vegetarians is inhumane way animals are treated, eventually being killed just so you can have pork serloin.

i'm not a "veggie person" but the animal remains that they're eating weren't really killed--and if they were, then it isn't really their fault because they never meant for it to be killed--i guess.
