I was just eating some grapes and when I bit into one it sort of 'exploded' and the mushy inside slid back down my throat. For a second I couldn't breathe (I certainly didn't swallow) but then I was fine. Now I'm petrified I've inhaled it though I'm not choking (I am coughing but I wonder if that's cause I'm freaking myself out). Is there a way to tell? I feel stupid : (

If you are coughing, then your body is taking care of the problem for you. There are nerve sensors in the body that will trigger coughing when foreign matiereals try to enter the airway. The coughing prevents the matiereal from getting to the lungs. Nothing to worry about.

I just had a similar situation, believe it or not! See, I'm coming down w/a cold, so that's when you're most prone to choking & hiccups. So I was sipping some coke when I found this question on here & BUST OUT LAUGHING -- HEE-HEE-HEH-HAH-HAH-HUH-HUH!!! But before I tell you the question, please clear your mouth of everything cuz I still got excessive phlegm from choking on the coke (the lungs rid themselves of unwanted stuff this way). See, there's this "user" nicknamed "Miss Piggy" like on Sesame Street. She always asks such stupid questions as this 1 in voting which just got me choked: "i made ca ca in my pants help me!!!!!!!i cant clean my self.it stinks!?" Now if that doesn't make you laugh up your lunch, nothing will! I have a bad case of the hiccups just from thinking about it, so now my throat is REALLY irritated! Just don't eat when funny stuff like that is on your mind -- it's dangerously funny!

A lung isn't a big sac, it's a bunch of tiny little sacs. No grape could fit down there and if it was stuck in your trachea, you'd know. It probably went down your esophagus normally after it moved from covering your trachea and you just didn't feel it.

Once a moth flew into my eye and went under my eyelid. It never came out. It was a small moth, but it freaked me out.

If you are breathing properly, you shouldn't have to worry. Since it's a grape, it will eventually breakdown if it was/is stuck. I would worry if it were a bone though....
