Now when I try to feed him any type of meat he hates it. What can I do to replace the vitamins *protein* that he is losing without eating meat. I know he can eat fish, eggs and beans. But what other alternatives that I can give him that would replace meat. Has any other mother had this problem?

I would pick up some Nutritional Yeast - NOT brewer's yeast. Nutritional Yeast is yellow and flake-like. When cooked it tastes like good strong cheddar cheese. It's loaded in protein and B vitamins. It's what Vegans use to make certain they are getting good solid nutrients.

Stir it into anything he eats that is cooked. You can also make it as a sauce with a little olive oil and tamari or soy sauce.

It will also boost his immune system. So he'll be healthier.

This is probably a fad that he will grow out of but he will get all the protein and vitamins he needs from fish, eggs and beans (and of course vegetables and fruit) Be thankful that he's not keen on chicken nuggets and sausages as these mostly contain mechanically reclaimed meats (all the bits of the animal you wouldn't normally want to eat) and they're full of salt.

Nuts and soy have protein too. They actually make soy subsitutes for meat that taste almost like the real thing. You can buy them at the whole food store. Just don't over do it Cause one or two servings of soy a day are safe but more than that might be too much new research suggest. But my favorite are beans They have protien and so many other healthy stuff. You should look up a bunch of recipes to make what you got to work with more tempting for him to eat. Also try yummy shakes with protein powder added to them you can mix them up in your blender. Oh yeah i bearly ate meat when i was younger tooBut I seem to fine. I'm a little short though.

I went through the same thing as a kid...I still don't eat a lot of meat. Don't worry! Make sure that he eats a lot of whole grains, like whole wheat bread, whole wheat pasta,... you're on the right track with beans, cheese (grilled cheese!), Just make sure he gets a well-rounded diet with lots of veggies! Don't worry about replacing meat per se. I stopped eating meat for the most part when I was little (when I found out where it came from), and I'm now tall and healthy! Be creative!

The fish, eggs and beans will be enough for him to grow and be healthy. Try those soy hot dogs, hamburgers, chicken nuggets, etc made by Morningstar Farms or Boca. Also try soy milk, vanilla flavor on him. The fish and eggs by themselves will provide the B12 and niacin he needs and all the other vitamins come from vegetables, fruits and whole grains. He will be a healthy little guy.

One of my sons went through that when he was little, too. For several months, he just refused to eat meat. We ended up having a lot of beans, macaroni and cheese (homemade), and spaghetti with meat sauce (homemade.) He would eat those. He also liked eggs, and chicken salad. We would cook other meats for everybody else. After a few months, he started back on the meat. I hope this helps.

I did that from basicly birth to about 4 then I stopped fighting it and ending up becomming a vegetarian once I was old enough to think for myself. But the best thing to do is the vegetarian substitute for whatever you'd ordinarily have. Depending on the quality of your grocery store there should be dozend of "meats" and that type of stuff in the cooler part of the produce section. Or look for online store that'll send it to your home. Good luck with it!

It's not a problem. Sausages and chicken nuggets are bad for him anyway. Whole grain pasta is a good source of protein.

my daughter went through this too - we just substituted pasta and make sure they are taking a vitamin daily - that will lessen your stress as far as his nutrition is concerned - kids phase in and out of what they like to eat as they grow - I usually have my kids "taste test" everything and make sure I keep telling them that their tastes will change constantly to encourage them - as my daughter gets older I can now get more fruits (still working on veggies) into her - hang in there
