I would suggest a nice wild rice combination. With the multple colors, blacks, browns and whites will be a nice bold statement. And also a nice side of fresh steamed asparagus, as the vibrant green will "pop" of the plate. Yummy!

Crab cakes are sometimes on the rich and heavy side. To lighten things up I would saute fresh asparagus or sugar snap peas with cherry tomatoes and serve with a salad of mixed greens with a light vingarette (raspberry, basil, or citrus).

assorted steamed veggies and rice pilaf.

The bright colored veggies not only taste great, but will look gorgeous against the black plates.

Steam the veggies then add a little butter , and salt/pepper to taste.
