NO. however there are hereditary lung disorders similar to IPF and there are many lung diseases which cause fibrosis of the lung tissue or the interstitium of the lung, but very few are actually hereditary. now its a different story if the question was: does my DNA or gene make up make me more susceptible to lung problems? that answer can be a yes but not even a resounding yes.

no its not....idiopathic means they have found no reason for the fibrosis.
