Falafel is DELICIOUS!!! It's a Middle Eastern dish that consists of a patty made from gound up chick peas (garbanzo beans) which is fried. You can scan the ethnic food aisles in the grocery store - many sell mixes which require only water and a tiny bit of oil to fry it up in. These mixes aren't all that bad... But...

The best falafel I ever had was in Egypt! There they covered the outside with sesame seeds and they were divine!!!

Falafel is a Traditional Middle Eastern ( not only jewish ) staple. It is made of ground chick peas ( garbanzo beans), chopped parsley, minced garlic ( add some salt, cumin, pepper, olive oil). Mix all the ingredients together, form balls ( take about 1 tbl spoon) and fry in olive oil. Eat with Tahini sauce or as a sandwich - wrapped in pita bread with sliced tomatoes, tahini sauce ( sesame seed sauce), hot sauce.
Or, easier way - go to a Middle Easter restaurant and try some.
Enjoy.

It's typically made from ground chickpeas/ garbanzo beans with spices and onions etc...made into small balls, fried and put into a pita bread with veggies: lettuce, tomato and tahini sauce or tzaiki sauce(greek). or served on a plate with other nibbles like kalamata olives(greek), tabouli(mid. east). dolma(grape leaves and rice filling) and feta cheese(greek). they are really good. sometimes they are spicy and sometimes not. in Italy I had some that were made from white beans which are very popular there because often the cooks in middle eastern restaurants are from Egypt and make the falafel from white beans instead of garbanzo. they are soooooo much better. lighter and amazing, in fact....nevertheless, enjoy these until you can get to Italy and ask them for an Egyptian falafel. yum!!

Falafel is Israel national food. However, it is originally Egyptian, and is common in Middle East cuisine. Falafel is made of garbanzo beans (chick peas) and spices, rolled into small balls, and deep fried. Falafel is commonly served in a pita with salad, and various condiments (mostly Tahini). It is absolutely delicious (if you go to the right place).

Mmmmmm, I am getting hungry just thinking of Falafel. Enjoy!

I can see your confusion at my grocery store (walmart) the kosher food is right next to the other "ethnic" foods. If you cant find it at your grocery store (look for a box that says falafel on it) Someone should be able to order it for you. I had walmart order boo berry the cerial so often they just strated puting it on the shelf next to franken berry and count chocula mmmm.
