I'm a vegetarian too and there is loads out of there, but it does take a while to get used to and experiment with new foods.
There are loads of vegetarian alternatives out there such as quorn which comes as mince, chunks, fillets, meat(less) balls, etc so you can make just about any meat dish into a vegetarian alternative - such as chilli, shepherds pie, stir frys, fajitas, etc.
You can make some great pasta sauces and vegetarian lasagne and can use things like hullumi cheese as the main ingrediant to your meal.
You can even get veggie sausages and bacon these days so can have veggie fry up or toad in the hole!
If you get really stuck, there are some great vegetarian recipe books out there so get some inspiration from them.

There is a lot of food for vegetarians. You have to change the way you plan a meal. In a meal that is non-vegetarian, the meat/fish is the centre of the dish and everything else is adapted to that. In a vegetarian meal the ingredients are more on an equal level. If you are really serious about this, invest in a very very good vegetarian cookbook. Also, try vegetables/ingredients you have never tried before and use your imagination. Simply deleting meat from your usual menu is not enough.

Well, congratulations !!
Stick with it, it'll get really easy after a while. Keep checking labels on the packets and you'll soon get used to manufacturers that provide veggie food. Try to make some of it from scratch but it can be time consuming.
Of couse it also depends on which country you live it, UK is OK
And don't listen to any of those suggestions tha suggest you eat Fish, its not veggie ( we've been through this arguement so many times but trust me, fish are very dead once you've eaten them )

Why are you a vegetarian? There are problems with diets that include meat, but they are far fewer and less detrimental to your health in the long run than those that accompany vegetarian diets (especially if you are unable to see the tremendous choices available in a vegetarian diet and are, therefore, unable to find something to eat). If you're changing your diet because you don't think it's humane to eat animals I would recommend that you observe nature for awhile before you continue. If no critters ate other critters we would be overrun with insects, rodents, and vicious beasts. I happen to be a plant lover. I know plants that exhibit moods and feelings. With open minds many more of us would realize that plants have a life too. I grow plants, I kill plants, and I eat plants. I also eat animals. I am ok with all of this because this is the example that God has provided for me. All I had to do was take a careful look at the world around me to figure out the right thing to do.

No no that is sooo not true! I mean besides the regular produce and stuff, you can get brands like morning star and boca burgers that are AMAZING!!! I love love love them. If you are off dairy too, there is soy milk which rocks my world and egg substitutes too.
Check you frozen foods section in the supermarket. Usually they have the vegeterian food near the breakfast food. Oh, and try those wonderful stir fries! I love cooking and i find NO limitation in being a vegetarian.

It's easier in the States or the UK than it is in southern Europe, let me tell you! Go to Asian supermarkets, they have tofu and many pulses (beans and grains) and can be very helpful on how to prepare them. They also sell "mock chicken" and "duck" (seitan) in tins. Mushrooms are an excellent source of protien with no fat or cholesterol.
Eat plenty of legumes (beans, lentils, garbanzos etc.) and whole grains. You can buy "wheat berries" and cook them like rice...it's just whole grains of wheat without the hard husk.
If you're vegetarian and not vegan, make sure you get plenty of milk products to top up your enzymes and vitamins. I'm ovolacto, so the egg helps you get all the nutrients you need.
And think of all those fresh veg and fruits you can enjoy! It takes some learning, but you can buy pre-cut fresh veg in the cold cases of many supermarkets, ready washed. Experiment with stirfries, omelets, pasta with lots of different veg in the sauce. Go buy a mandoline or one of those food slicers like you see on the teleshopping channels. You can cut up a bunch of fresh veg in a heartbeat with one of those, and you know that what you're getting is fresh and healthy. Visit www.vegweb.com for recipes and advice.

hey are you joking there loads of vegetarian foods in the supper markets these days, look for qourn foods these are veggie foods. or use you imagination think of the foods you like and buy your own veggies and soya meat and make up your own veggie dishes,be careful though and make sure that you take multi vitamin tablets, because you could be missing vital vitamins from your diet.
oh by the way why not try to go to www.ask.com, and put in recipes for vegetarian's which will um up with loads off search engines sites to click onto

oh puurlease there is loads now some good and some bad. But try 16 years ago there was sweet fa. Infact at primary school dinners i had half a boiled egg and grated cheese for about 2 years and i didn't give up. Be strong .....
oh and beware of the nut roast its like eating gravel.

There's loooooads of food around for vegetarians, you just need to know what they are. Beyond all the fruit and veg, nuts and seeds are excellent for you, tofu, seitan and other meat substitutes, wholegrain cereals and pasta, soy products... the list goes on.
Find yourself a vegetarian cookbook, it'll give you ideas. My advice are veggie cookbooks for students, they offer cheap and easy meals to make.
