I have been sick with a throat infection and cold for the past 4/5 days. The cough started a couple of days ago... I'm not cough as much during the day. It's at its worst at night when I'm laying down. How do I get rid of the cough? Its keeping us up at night.

I have just had the exact same thing! Its been 10 days now and I am almost completely better but still coughing abit at night...my advice is try a VERY good cough mixture called Night Pac (not sure if you get it where you live but worth a try!) and I also HIGHLY recommend using a mixture of lemon juice (freshly squeezed) with honey added to taste and a bit of hot water (the whole mixture should only be about half a mug full) sip this slowly before you go to sleep. it works WONDERS for coughs!!!! get better soon!

Probably you have drainage down your throat causing the cough. A decongestant might be helpful. Look at cough syrups with PE in them.

I would take nightquil and/or spray that stuff in your mouth aiming at your throat whci should numb your throat and the feeling that you need to cough should go away.

Try to sleep on an incline with your head up, and I know its probably bad advice but nasal spray could help.
