Picture all ↑those together and that's OUR traditional Japanese breakfast. Sometimes more or less, but always rice, miso soup and nattou (or egg).
~My hubby loves a traditional Japanese breakfast, but I make a Western type sometimes too.(*^o^*)
Hope this helps!♡
BTW, breakfast may vary from family to family depending on their custom or appetite. WE just tend to eat a lot.

"Justagal" is right...the traditional Japanese breakfast is rice, miso soup and often grilled fish. Many Japanese people still eat this today. However, Western influences are growing, so many folks eat cereal, yogurt, toast, eggs, bacon, etc. Salad is also a popular sidedish in Japanese breakfasts, though I'm not sure from which country that originated... Hope that helps!

I am Japanese but have never had rice, miso soup, natto, or tsukemono for my breakfast because my father likes to have bread and coffee for his breakfast. I have these traditional Japanese breakfast for my dinner.

I don't live with my parents anymore but still have bread, coffee, yogurt, and some fruits for my breakfast.

Steamed rice or congee is definitely one thing, I had it while flying JAL and a lot of Japanese eat it. Also Natto (fermented soybeans) and pickles. The Japanese also eat raw eggs with their rice.
