if your b/p continues to stay at that level eventually it can become a concern. see the bottom number represents the pressure in your vessels at rest. now if that number is high at rest than that can cause problems done the road. I don't know if you exercise or are active but if not this can lower your b/p. you can also just be stressed about being in the doctor's office and your b/p goes up, but outside of the office you may actually be fine. good luck.

Hi, I am 64 and at a recent check-up my blood pressure was 160/90. The doctor said it was a bit high and advised that I take a low dose of statins and diuretics [permanently]. My blood pressure is now around 130/75. I can't say I feel any different, but then I didn't feel unwell to start with.

The 90 for the diastolic pressure might be a concern IF it is a consistent finding. Many people have what physicians call "white coat hypertension" - their blood pressure goes up from anxiety, stress, or fear whenever they go to a doctor's office. I suggest checking your BP at Walmart or most pharmacies where they
have an automatic blood pressure cuff/device. Try to relax and
be calm when you take it. I'll bet you will be closer to the "ideal"

Your Blood pressure is borderline high, normal diastolic pressure(botttom number) is 60s-80's. High blood pressure cannot be determined by one reading. Things to help are maintaining a healthy weight, exercise, and eating a healthy diet. The bottom number is the pressure ( in mm of Mercury) against your vessels when your heart is in the resting phase, so when it is high your risk of stroke/aneurysm is higher. Hope this helps....

Blood pressure fluctuate every min of the day so its ok with that reading.Get an Omron brand blood pressure tester so you could take your own reading everyday at a specific time. At clinics, you tend to get nervous and so your blood pressure will rise.

A normal number on the bottom is between 60 to 100 ( your on the high end of normal, we don't usually treat it unless it goes above 100), and your top number is just fine. Don' t sweat it, your ok.

What are you eating? If you cut down the salt significantly, you will see how much your blood pressure will drop.
