How soon do STD's like syphillis, herpes and other std's after being infected do they appear? This is my propblem, I noticeda bump when going to the bathroom its pretty small definitely smaller than a pea, it almost look like a pimple at the vaginal opening right up next to the right side of the clitoris. Is it possible to get bumps or pimple looking things down at the vaginal region that is NOT an std? please don't just tell me to go get tested, however, i'm 21, are those confidential if you got to a health center and do you need to use insurance?--(since my parents pay my insurance while I'm in school they'd see what I did) I am engaged now, we have protected sex, and there is no question that he is clean. however a year ago I believe I was raped after a party. so if it's herpes or something like that, how long after being infected would it take to show? otherwise that's the only 2 people i'ver EVER been with rapist & fiance.

Help with true answers ONLY nothinglike you're dumb etc

herpes can show up 21 days after contact and beyond. Some people get it and never actually get symptoms. If it was herpes, it would hurt, and you'd probably have more than one. Syphillis usually leaves just one lesion. It occurs in three stages, primary is a lesion called a chancroid, secondary you get a wide range of symptoms (these first two go unnoticed a lot of times, or they are vague and aren't actually linked to having syphillis) and the tertiary stage your body systems start shutting down til you are dead. It takes a while to get to that point, a long time, but I am not sure how long it takes after initial contact for the first stage. It may also be HPV, if it is painless and has bumps. '
No matter where you go to get tested it will be confidential. It is illegal for doctors to disclose information without your written permission if you are over the age of 18.

Herpes usually appears about 6 weeks after you are exposed to it, but some people are more prone to breakouts than others. You may not have noticed. Herpes is more of a blister and the area is sore a lot of the time. Maybe it is an ingrown hair or irritation from shaving. I think you need to get tested to be sure. There are other STD's that can cause permanent damage if they are not treated. Is there a health clinic at your school that you can go to or a planned parenthood clinic in your area? Fees for these places are usually nominal. Good Luck.

Sounds like it could be HPV - Human Papailloma Virus. aka genital warts. I had the same thing happen as a result of a rape, and it didn't show up for over a year. Most health clinics will give you a reduced fee or free STD screening - call first and find out what the policy is. It is important to get tested though, because some forms of HPV have been linked to cervical cancer. Most of all, don't blame yourself. If it turns out to be a result of the rape, it is NOT your fault.
Good luck honey.

The best thing to do would be to go to the doctor, I know your scared but your health Is very important, If It Is an STD not going to a doctor and getting proper medication for It can lead to a lot of bad things happening to your body, like not being able to get pregnant one day or even worse problems. I have a friend that has moles down by her vagina, but she Is also pregnant and hormones have caused her two moles. The wise thing to do would be to go to the doctor for no one on this site Is a professional doctor and you need medical advice from a professional doctor. ((GoOd LuCk)) and I wish the best for you and your fiancee, also please get some help and talk to someone about being raped, b/c I know how you feel I was raped and molested by my father from 3 to 9 and so was my cousin and I know the emptiness and the loneliness you can feel from the pain that you have had to endure. (( GoD bLeSs))!!

Hi there,

Does the pimple hurt? Usually if it burns real bad it is likely to be herpes. Yes, you can get little pimples anytime. Chlorine from a pool could cause irratation and pimples. If it doesn't hurt, it could be vaginal warts. Those you will always have, although, you could have them now, get them treated, then they could go away and not return for months or years. But they will always be in your system and they are contagiuos. Be careful. I hope that helped a little.

It doesn't necessarily mean that you have an STD. It very well could be an infected hair. It is a good idea to have an STD check anyway if you have been raped and you are having sex. You do not have to go to your gyn if you do not feel comfortable. You can go to your Planned Parenthood or health dept. It is usually free or very cheap and is confidential.

Good luck to you.

Hello,

It could be just a yeast infection. Std's symptoms can show from 48 hours to years.

The thing is that without proper examination, we cannot accuratly diagnose the problem.

How many bumps are they ? is it white ? is it red ? are they painful ? do you have abnormal discharge ? does it hurt when you urinate ? do you experience abnormal bleeding ? these are few questions which have to be answered before knowing exactly what is up with it...i still think it's just an infection.

If you have any doubt at all, see a medical professional. No need to be embarrassed; especially if, indeed, you were raped. I would think the school nurse can help you out.
Don't worry about things like health insurance disclosure when long term health complications might be involved. I doubt that a gynecologic health exam would raise any eyebrows, and you ARE 21 for heaven's sake.

most STD'S appear up to 6 weeks after the fact. women get pimples all the time down in that area. i am no expert but if you were going to get herpes or warts i believe they would come and spread like the chicken pox. you can go to a free clinic if you have one in your area but if you have herpes, warts, hiv,or aids it is law the clinic reports it to the state. its your call on what to do but if you feel you have something you dont want to wait too long or it will be nastier to treat good luck to you

Listen...go to your parents and tell them...they can get you the best medical help. Don't just go to any clinic...go to a specialist. I bump down there can mean anything...it can be a pimple...it can be a heat rash with just one little rash pimple.

You need to be upfront with your parents...if there is anyone you should talk to about something this intimate, it should be them.

Don't delay...and don't try and pop it, it may spread. You're not dumb you're concern...but you should take care of it now.

Good Luck.
