I'm a fit 30 year old and have been doing loads of exercise regularly to keep my weight down and hopefully to lose it - I wanted to lose about a stone in total over 6 months or so. It was coming down very very slowly but then last week i went on an advanced riding trek through Iceland for a week. We were riding about 6-7 hours a day and although there was plenty of food I found that by the end my appetite had disappeared and i hardly ate for the last 48 hours (I did have a great time though!!) and i drank mainly water and some coffee all week. Having returned, all my clothes are hanging off me and I seem to have lost over half a stone. Is this unhealthy? Given I was losing weight v slowly before can I expect the weight to stay off if I do as I was doing before my holiday? I've never lost that much in that short a time before... any advice appreciated!

people seem to think that I stopped eating deliberately - I didn't at all and i would never try to lose weight that quickly normally. not sure what I weigh now - prob about 10.25 stones or something (I'm 5'8") so please don't worry about me being underweight! I was just worried that I'd got an infection or something...

Yes you want to ease of for a while.
If you keep losing weight like this you are more likely to put it all back on again, and more besides.
Well done though, just take it easy!

Aha:)
it is normal to happen, I have couple of friends doctors who tell me the same when I go to the gym, dont overload cause one day when u stop, you might have some heart problems and will get fat eventually.
Well of course this was pretty too much with the getting fat.
Its like getting sick- u dont eat anything for a week, then u gain for days...
THis is a normal situation in which the organism is found in a stress situation, and trying to compensate the loss, as it thinks it was a loss during a stressful time, the result might be even - get fatter than before, hunger and extreme weightloss procedures are a scam way to get a good body.
excercise, correct eating habits, low calorific food is what helps in the longrun
here found some high on celulose food
I'd recommend u to eat
http://bulgle.com/L/L/soyproducts.php
dont restrain from eating- eat normal, try to walk more, excercise and forget chocolate and eating after 6pm. (if working till late after 8)
and be cool:) the effect will come in a month or two, not right away.

Yes dont try to excersize excessively, you've lost weight now just focus on maintaing the loss if this is the look you wanted. Just eat what you normally would and I dont think the weight should come back. You probably lost weight rapidly because of the increase in physical activity and you probably weren't hungry because you were constantly drinking water which sometimes can fill someone up too. So dont try to lose anymore weight and just focus on maintaining your current weight. I hope this helps!

Well, in normal circumstances that is a drastic loss of weight. Doctors tell their patients that 2lbs weight loss a week is healthy (and sustainable).
However you were not at home - you were trekking - and so it is feasible that this extra tough activity and change in your diet has sent your weight crashing.
The good news is that the weight loss will probably normalise soon. The bad news is that drastic weight loss may affect how your body deals with your nutrients hormonally (usually in prolonged and extreme cases), so don't sit back at your PC: check with your doctor!
As long as you're not underweight, I doubt there will be a problem.
Good luck :o]

Here is what you need to do, if you are serious about losing weight and keeping it off. Eat 6 small meals a day about every 4 hours. Here what that will do for you, your metabolism will increase (i.e. Loose weight) and you will have more engry. If you go on a diet and eat less, your metabolism will slow down and store to fat. That is why diets dont work. Only the size of your fist, carbs (examples:baked potato, pasta, oatmeal, beans, corn, melon, apples, fat free yogurt, whole wheat breads)in one and protien (examples:chicken breast, swordfish, shrimp, turkey breast) in the other. You can also eat vegetables and salads with any meal, they dont have none or little fat). 30min cardo exercise every day. Any of these(examples: walking, jogging, swimming, running, biking, ect), Monday cardo, tues upper body (arms: curls, tricep extensions, pull ups, front press)(abdominals: leg pull crunch, leg raises), (chest: bench press, butterfly, pullover)(shoulders: front press, arm pullover, cross county skier machine)(back:seated row, lat pull downs, back extension)(YOU DONT HAVE TO DO IN ONE DAY, mix it up) wed cardo, thurs lower body (legs: leg pull, leg press, squats, lounges) fri cardo, sat upper. Sunday eat anything you want and dont exercising, you do this on sunday so your body doesnt go into starvation mode. YOU NEED TO TAKE SUNDAY OFF. If you stilck with this you will have a great body. also drink aleast 8oz of water daily! Stay away from Mcdonals, Wendys, ect because there is nothing good for you on the menu's even the salads are bad (beaon bits, cheeze, dressing, ect) Good Luck :)

I don't think you have anything to worry about. When I go to Europe, I regularly lose a lot of weight because I walk all the time (discounting exercise). Last trip to England took of 8 pounds in 2 weeks without trying... of course, back in the US, it came right back haha. But seriously, if you have no symptoms of illness, then you needn't be concerned.

Hmm, your body probably went into shock from the lack of eating and the overexcercising. It probably thought your body was starving and went into emergency mode. It was quite unhealthy of you not to be eating, therefore you did lose the weight unhealthily.

im no expert, but i would say now your back and not riding 6-7 hours a day, your weight will settle down. youll probably put a little back on as youll be eating usual meals again. i wouldnt worry about your weight, if you find your still loosing it, seek advice from a doctor. just remember not to do too much at once!
glad you enjoyed yourself anyway!

your weight will return in double if u re not careful with food now. so eat very little and try to excersise more. then try to add food amount back to normal very very slowly. but according to my experience fast lost weight usually returns as fast as it was lost and it is harder to lose it after. im a weight fighter myself -keeping perfect body takes a lot of time and effort. everything i told u i experienced myself. so now if im going on some sporty trip i just eat more sweet stuff to keep calories intake the same.
