Yeah, and what is the deal with peanut butter? It tastes gross.

the reason why it is so plain and mostly tasteless is because it is mass produced. just like almost everything else americans eat. I would personally rather have something more dense than white bread but good bread is nearly impossible to find in most areas of the country unless you live in a city that has lots of real bakerys. I like Irish soda bread, baguettes, and sourdough but there are no bakerys in the city that I live in and it is a decent sized town of about 300,000 in the greater area.

Hey...some of us do know how to make bread at home......all types of it. Fast food????I MIGHT eat it once a month out of desperation. Veggies.....MOST of them come from my garden. Exception being lettuce and fresh veggies for salads when it too cold to grow them, or they don't grow well here.
Tonights menu:
Homemade Ruben
FRESH HOME COOKED rye bread
FRESH HOMECOOKED Corned Beef
HOME canned Sour Kraut-cabbage from the garden
HOMEMADE Dressing
Dessert HOMEMADE apple dumpings, apples from the tree in my aunt's yard...Sorry I will have to BUY my flour to use I don't seem to have a way to grind it myself, BUT my father DOES grow wheat as one of his crops...about 1000 acres of it...does that count? The sugar I will use...I'll just get that from the store too. I just dont think sugar cane will grow well here
I didn't make is the swiss cheese.
Chances are most of you would not go thru that much time and effort to make a sandwich that good. There isn't a bakery on every corner here. WHY don't YOU make your own instead of getting it from bakeries?
Only other thing I can add is I don't care what or how you eat over there. Never cared to find out. Never cared to complain about it. If you don't like what is eaten here stay the hell at home. WHY do you care?

I'll have you know I make bread just about every weekend, and I'm American.
Yes, real bread...flour, yeast, salt, etc.
Sometimes I liven it up a bit and will make sourdough. I have a starter that I've been keeping alive for nearly 6 years. It's good stuff, I tell ya. :)
American store bought bread does have it's plusses though. Nothing quite like a good old tomato sandwich on some squishy white bread with a smear of mayo. Yum!

you don't know what you're talking about. You sample bread from one small location in a huge country and pronounce the whole country to be "The Land of Bad Bread "
Next time you go to NYC - assuming I let you in the country- sample the bread in NYC
i don't care where you go , you can go to the mom & pop bakerys or bigger places such as Zabars on 80th &BWY or Dean & Delucas on Prince & BWY
cruise the ethnic neighborhoods ,sample their wares.
Go to Chicago or San Francisco and do the same thing
If you return home and still think that there isn't any "real bread" in America, then you really don't know what you're talking about.

Well, there are many small bakeries in American that have begun to sell quality bread goods, a trend that suffered a bit as a result of the "South Beach Diet" fad... But there still there as an option to Wonder white bread...

Why not open an Ethnic Bakery and sell the sort of bread that you love. Instead of being negative, look for the positive side of things and you will come out much better in life.

bread is still bread regardless of where it comes from or where it is baked the only difference is that the flavors and ingridents are different I have a preference which is whole wheat bread that is for me but that is the reason why they make other breads to satifsy other people's taste such as yours so what may be awful to you becomes exquisite to another

Most of commercially made bread around the world is crap compared to home made bread. Same with most foods, full of preservatives, sweeteners, artificial flavourings and colourings. The only way to get good food is to grow it yourself, and cook it yourself.

If you lived in America, then you would be accustomed to eating this"crap" and would know nothing else. also it seems that you are complaining about a worthless issue and categorizing Americans into a "bad food group" by basing your opinions on your experience. you need to lighten up and get a grip on reality.
