A friend interested in plumbing told me that when you go on a course, you are not just there for the course.
You are also there to make new contacts. You need to get to know the others on the course -
even get to know your own plumber too! Or your neighbour's plumber or your mother's plumber.
Go where plumbers go and get chatting. What about Wickes or other wholesale places where plumbers get their gear .
You will be better off if you find a plumber who will let you help him/her for a while before starting up on your own. Experience is so Important in this work. Else the rest of us get wet.

My brother went to the best restaurant in NYC - Le Cirque and said "I will work for you for 40 hours per week for 6 months for free"
My parents gave him an allowance and did the work before entering culinary school that required 6 mos experience. Not only did he have this on his resume but he learned from the best and later went back to work there.
Find the BEST plumbing company in your town and make them an offer. If you can afford this, you will be paid back in spades.
By the way, 24 years later, he is super successful and has his own restaurant.
Good Luck.

Open the yellow pages and try calling any plumbing companies in the area and see if they are willing to hire an assistant. Ask everyone else if they know of any plumbing companies that will hire you. Speak with your instructors about any plumbing companies willing to work with you.

Go to an established plummer and ask for work with him. Plummers work very hard and earn a good living. Most successful plummers would be more than glad to have a helper.
