We are hoping to move to the New South Wales area, and would like to know if there are any guidelines or rules etc. on migrating animals, or even if they are allowed. My sister has taken her 2 cats to the USA, but I know that each country will have their own regulations and I'm not sure where to start . . .

Thanks guys, lots of info on all those sites. Spikes, we're hoping to go either on my husbands work visa or the family one, 'cos hubby's got relatives over there. I have to have an operation first, so we haven't really gone onto much detail at the minute . . . apparantly the medical's a nightmare so I have to be really fit first!

No, i'm Aus. and after I moved remote places with my cat, which took me some months to get each and each of the mandatory papers, they advised me i might want to no longer convey the cat back into Australia. it truly is too confusing, takes too lengthy, and prices too a lot. Then they might want to stay in quarantine besides. SO ignore bringing any animals to Australia.

Hi there...here's the Australian emigration website regarding pet animals: http://www.daff.gov.au/content/output.cfm?ObjectID=768C53F1-E1E3-47B6-A1516B834217B7F8&contType=outputs You will need to select your originating country from the pop up menu to determine the requirements. I'm assuming by your email domain address it is the UK. Quarantine is 30 days from most countries including the UK
