I met my ideal guy last year, both of us are single then, never had the chance to be up-close-and-personal with him because im working 300 km away....i just get to see him saying hi's and hello's on special occasions....
I found my boyfriend in between...I love this guy so much...
Just came to know that my ideal guy is in relationship with a common friend....
What to feel that he belonged to someone else now...

I have been in a similar situation. Sometimes when you are far away, you can idealize the person because all the time you get to spend together is special. The person might feel special because every time you see him is a "holiday."
I'm glad you have a steady boyfriend. Sometimes just doing "everyday" things together may seem less special, but that's what real life is like!
I'm sure you feel sad about the "ideal guy." Give it time and you may look back and realize that the man you have is better for you. You might never find out things about the other person that would have turned you off, since you never spent much time with him.

You didn't get involved with your boyfriend knowing you were soulmates with 300km away. He didn't mean enough for you to drive to see him until he was being taken off the market by your friend. You said yourself that all you excahnged most of the time was hi's and hellos You didn't lose your ideal guy. You just lost this thing you knew you couldn't have so it was safe to idolize it.

wow...same thing just happened to me... (well, just the last part actually,)
we can't control what we feel, but it is all right to feel pain, lost, loneliness,betrayal, remorse or regret....
but hey, you also have a boyfriend... the most you can feel for him and your friend is to be happy for them and wish that your friend may truly appreciate him...
continue to be friends with him, who knows? someday love would give both of you another chance, you would want to be there for him when that happens, won't you?
