Funny that everyone who has answered says yes. Makes me wonder:
Are you really sure you know what the Inquisition is?

Yes...I left the Catholic Church, and I'd probably be among the first to die.

But, you know, nobody expects the Spanish Inquisition! (sorry 'bout the Monty Python quote...couldn't resist!)

This is really an impossible statement. Due to our Bill of rights it wouldn't be possible. If this did happen here, it would be after the fall of the United States. And since this would be far into the future, I would not be burned at the stake. Due to the fact that I would have died of natural causes hundreds of years before.

They would probably throw me in prison, torture me for a year or so and then kill me for being a heretic. Meanwhile, throwing my family out in the street (if they didn't kill them too), take my property and give it to some sick, twisted little fool so he could claim to rule my street.

And actually, during that time, anyone who wasn't part of the Roman Catholic Church was considered a heretic... so if this modern Inquisition followed those rules, anyone who wasn't a Catholic would be a heretic.

No. We in Canada would be inundated with refugee claims made by Americans trying to escape.

Funny how that works. The Underground Railroad led escaped slaves to freedom in Canada. During the Viet Nam war, draft dodgers came to Canada to escape service in an unjust war. Homosexuals come here to escape persecution in America.

"Send us your tired, your poor, your huddled masses..." to Canada, land of the free, home of the brave (hey, living next to America takes a great deal of courage ;-)

Interesting supposition... If in some bizarro world it did happen(Inquisition) yes, I'd be burned. I would neither recognise their authority over me nor recant my beliefs.

yeah, if the constitution goes down and we lose our freedoms because the world got so hostil, then it's reasonalbr to try tirning to religion. That's the same mistake the Church made with pagan rome hundreds of years ago.

Depends, do they burn people for not caring? I.e., I neither believe nor disbelieve in Christianity, I simply leave the debate up to minds less tired and more concerned with it. Is that heresy? And, I smoke the marijuana, I bet they nail you to a stake for that, eh?

If our system of government failed, and that type of ignorance came back into being I'd certainly be one put to death because I always question govt and I am a non-believer.

Yes, because I am against the current government.

I have proof that all governments are directly controlled by satan, in the bible.
