You are washing your hair too much. Do not use any conditioner if you are using regular shampoo.

You can try Epsom salts. Mix 2 - 3 tablespoons of Epsom salts with 1/2 cup of shampoo and store in a plastic container. Massage about a tablespoon of the mixture into your DRY hair. Add water and shampoo as usual. Be sure to rinse thoroughly.

Using Vodka or Vinegar as a final rinse will also help to remove
the oil.

Baking soda can also help to remove the oil. Sprinkle baking soda over head. Work into hair as a dry shampoo. Brush out. (if you don't have time to wash your hair) I've heard cornstarch can be used also but it's harder to brush out...

I've also heard that simply washing your hair with equal parts vinegar and baking soda instead of shampoo can also help. But you would do this only as your hair became oily. Not every day. I know a few people that will go up to a week this way.

Hope this helps.

You say your hair is long....for one dont run your fingers through your hair cause your fingers will lift the oils off your scalp and move them further down the strand and the more you do that the more it looks flat and dull looking. Second if your hair is that oily dont apply the conditioner to your scalp only the hair. Third try using Tea Tree Shampoo from Paul Mitchelle it will dry out your scalp some but use it sparingly like every other time that you wash your hair. You can ask your local hairstylist about it. People will tell you not to wash your hair everyday but because you have oily hair....you have to wash it everyday cause if not it will smell and look really really dirty. And another thing about the shampoo....It will start to have a cool refreshing feeling to it like a tingly feeling, dont wash it out till you feel it cause if not you didnt give it enough time to work. Just remember the less your run your fingers through your hair the less oil will travel down the strand.

I get that problem too. If you wash your hair too often it does tend to be more oily. This may sound strange, but one weekend, when you're not going out, wash your hair with washing up liquid and don't use conditioner. Your hair will feel like crap that day, but the next day it should take longer for it to get oily because the washing up liquid will have stripped the natural oils temporarily. Sounds tough, but it works!

I use Suave Daily clarifying shampoo for normal to oily hair. And don't use conditioners. The conditioners add moisture to your hair which causes it to look oily. Do you sweat a lot on your head? That can also contribute.

When you have oily hair it is an indication of high testosterone.
You should have your level checked. Also, a mid day tip: put some baby powder in your hands and work through your hair- it absorbs some of the oils, and smells good.

use a good shampoo, do not put conditioner on your scalp.
do not apply other things onto hair after wash (cream, oil, etc.)
this will make it more oily..
