That's probably on the level of instincts, I guess. Mom...because most of us....are just children...of our Moms and need protection a lot.

Mom is mom and is usually the person that has always fixed our problems when coming up. Moms sometimes are easier to talk to than dad who can fly off the handle before thinking.

Who else will come bail you out of jail at 2:30 am in the morning, it sure isn't you friends, it's mom. Not that i have ever been to jail, but if i ever did go to jail mom would be the first one to call.

And besides that, who could love you more than your mother? She's the one who suffered by giving birth to you and cared for you when you could not care for yourself. Mom's love is unconditional. (or atleast should be)

usually its the mother who is a protective figure over a person so they call for their mother when they are hurt or in danger because of her taking care of them and protecting them throughout their childhood so its normal for someone to cry out for their mother even though they are full grown adults , its all because of the protective role she played while her child grew up.

moms are usually the more sensitive parent so they would understand more if you did something bad. if your really in danger they would be terrified so they would run to help you because they are more sensitive.

Probably because the person who is calling can trust since shes the mother, and not dad since he could be at work.
