She probably was mentally disturbed/challenged in her previous religion. After accepting Islam she got so better that even though you met her, you couldn't tell if she was ill before. Somebody else had to inform you.
Man, dont you have anything good to do. Look around you & you'll see who all are converting to Islam & how they are.
Its not new. People like you have always defamed Islam. Like in the time of Prophet Muhammed when a respected & learned Jew accepted Islam. His people's opinion suddenly changed against him. But that didn't stopped people from coming to the right path. So...
"STOP WASTING YOUR TIME"
The Story of the Jew
===============
The news that Allah's Prophet had come circulated in Medina. The people came out and were eagerly looking and saying "Allah's Prophet has come! Allah's Prophet has come! So the Prophet went on till he alighted near the house of Abu Aiyub. While the Prophet was speaking with the family members of Abu Aiyub, 'Abdullah bin Salam heard the news of his arrival while he himself was picking the dates for his family from his family garden. He hurried to the Prophet carrying the dates which he had collected for his family from the garden. He listened to Allah's Prophet and then went home.
Then Allah's Prophet said, "Which is the nearest of the houses of our Kith and kin?" Abu Aiyub replied, "Mine, O Allah's Prophet! This is my house and this is my gate." The Prophet said, "Go and prepare a place for our midday rest." Abu Aiyub said, "Get up (both of you) with Allah's Blessings." So when Allah's Prophet went into the house, 'Abdullah bin Salaim came and said "I testify that you (i.e. Muhammad) are Apostle of Allah and that you have come with the Truth. The Jews know well that I am their chief and the son of their chief and the most learned amongst them and the son of the most learned amongst them. So send for them (i.e. Jews) and ask them about me before they know that I have embraced Islam, for if they know that they will say about me things which are not correct." So Allah's Apostle sent for them, and they came and entered. Allah's Apostle said to them, "O (the group of) Jews! Woe to you: be afraid of Allah. By Allah except Whom none has the right to be worshipped, you people know for certain, that I am Apostle of Allah and that I have come to you with the Truth, so embrace Islam." The Jews replied, "We do not know this." So they said this to the Prophet and he repeated it thrice. Then he said, "What sort of a man is 'Abdullah bin Salam amongst you?" They said, "He is our chief and the son of our chief and the most learned man, and the son of the most learned amongst us." He said, "What would you think if he should embrace Islam?" They said, "Allah forbid! He can not embrace Islam." He said, " What would you think if he should embrace Islam?" They said, "Allah forbid! He can not embrace Islam." He said, "What would you think if he should embrace Islam?" They said, "Allah forbid! He can not embrace Islam." He said, "O Ibn Salaim! Come out to them." He came out and said, "O (the group of) Jews! 8e afraid of Allah except Whom none has the right to be worshipped. You know for certain that he is Apostle of Allah and that he has brought a True Religion!' They said, "You tell a lie." On that Allah's Apostle turned them out.

Thank you for this question,
Point 1: You said "...later I heard that..." This is called gossip. Gossip is the killer of society. There is a reason it is called backbiting, the prophet Muhammad (saw) said (paraphrasing) "would you eat your brother's flesh?" You should never even listen to it much less participate in it. Your role when you hear something about someone is to remind them that they are gossiping and that they should stop. You can check the information out, but the best way is to go right to the source.
Point 2: There are numerous dispensations given to mentally ill people in Islamic Law. They are exempt from praying and from many other obligatory forms of worship. They are considered to be people that the rest of us should care for and take care of if they are not able to do so on their own.
There are always people in all walks of life, both religious and secular, who use people for their own nefarious purposes. In this way some people may be more vulnerable because of their own feelings of needing help in their life.
But to make a broad brushed statement and say that Islam or any religion, such as Judaism, Christianity, Zoroastrianism, Buddhism, Hinduism and etc are cults is wrong.
Peace and Blessings,
Salim

Many mentally disturbed people take comfort in all varieties of religion. I think sometimes they are drawn toward some of the less popular groups because they feel like they are already on the margins of society. I hate to say it but many "cults" or other religions are more accepting of the mentally and emotionally handicapped than mainstream Christian churches are.
Depending on the nature of the mental disturbance, many people find stability in rigid rules. It is an intuitive way of trying to hold our lives together.

This woman would have to be mentally derranged to go from a wide open free society to an enclosed, case and class based society that treats women as 3rd class citizens. Camels, dogs and horses are treated better than the women are.
People who are mentally disturbed- slightly, not full blown insane like George Bush- but those who are slightly warped- know deep in their hearts they're kinda screwed up, so they seek answers to fix their own problems in the form of spiritual guidance

You have ever appeared in any level of logical test? who do you people not think and research before you ask?

and if she embraced Islam, do you know when she embraced, in what condistion was she?
Islam philosophy says:
Dont spread the words until unless you do satisfactory research / references / witnesses on it. Until unless you are not sure about it.
Soryr bro if you feel me harsh, me not aggressive, just to telling you try to think yourself in other dimentions. Goodbye

This is likely common in western converts to Islam.
Similarly, Islam gains many converts in prisons, as Islam offers convicts a religious justification for violence.

characteristics of a cult:
- Manipulative and authoritarian mind control over members
- Communal and totalistic in their organisation
- Aggressive in proselytizing
- Systematic program of indoctrination
- New membership of cults by middle class
now compare this to christianity. gee, christianity fills all the requirements of a cult. weird, isn't it. so i really doubt stone throwing at islam is in order.
