Okay
so a few weeks ago an intoxicated patron decided to grope me, He grabbed my breast so hard that it actually hurt - in turn, My first reaction was to turn around and hit him, So i did (in the face), He then stumbled backwards, got his balance, threw a glass at me and took a swing at me, which caused me to hit him again, this time knocking him over - he was removed from the premises by security and i never heard of it since, Until now - He's charging me with assult (In order to gain compensation from the establishment i'm employed at).
What makes all of it worse is the footage of the incident on the security camera does not show him clearly grabbing me because i was faced away from the camera (they're designed to face towards the patrons, not the staff) but it sure shows me hitting the guy!
He's claiming i broke his arm the first time i hit him, It sure wasn't to broken for him to throw a glass at me!
Any legal advice would be appreciated, I'm not sure where to go from here.

I should also mention, I'm not a violent person.. This was a one-off thing and i really didn't think i could cause much damage - the guy is 6'3 and one of the local football champions.

Thanx for the advice everyone, The security cameras do show him using his arm when he was throwing the glass and i'm sure i'll have alot of witnesses (I don't know how that will stand in court as most of them were drinking, But atleast it's something).
I guess it's time to find a lawyer.
Thankyou for the good wishes.

I wouldn't worry so much about the tape as you say it only shows part of the evidence. The eye witnesses will serve you better. I would seek charges for sexual battery and file a counter suit for sexual battery. Talk to an attorney he will help you put everything together you might want to get the list of witnesses and especially the security staff who removed the maggot. You have a good defense. The bar should be willing to help you since your defense will also be part of their defense. Good Luck!

Good advice as far as checking the tape to see if it shows him throwing the glass. Actually any sign of him using the arm naturally would work. Make him come up with a doctors statement also. Any witnesses to the altercation that saw him grope you or throw the glass? Will security back you. To be honest he probably doesn't have much of a case but is hoping that your company will settle out of court.
Also tell him that I said he needs to home and be quiet. Football hero whipped by a girl your size. He should be to embarrassed to tell anyone.

with a face like that you can assault me anytime, but seriously the last thing you need is to be on here trying to get advice. Go get a good lawyer ( not a cheap one) and you will have no problem, besides that even if you are found guilty, i highly doubt you will do any time for that specially if you have never been in trouble.

This is the beauty of our legal system, you will get your day in court. And self defense is a valid defense. It is probably its going to be his word against yours and with a jury those odds are about 50/50. I would find witnesses that support your testimony and the tapes would help even if he just tries to touch you inappropriately. Then after you are hopefully found not guilty you charge him with filing a false report. GOOD LUCK

Contact the securtiy personnel who threw him out. They could be your prime witnesses. Video evidence is acceptable but not considered as conclusive in cases where video does not reveal all details.
Get all you collegues and friends to rally behind you to prove that you are a non violent person.
Hire a detective and dig up the guys past history. You may be in for a big surprise there.
Hire a good lawyer.

Surely you must have a duty solicitor at least? Get as much advice as you can but don't worry too much - I don't think anyone will believe that you broke his arm by hitting him. Why don't you press charges against him for sexual abuse/harassment?? Wishing you the very best of luck xxx

get a lawyer and use the video tape to show that the punches you threw did not break this arm and get any witnesses from that night that saw the guy grabbing you

does the camera show him throwing the glass with his allegedly broken arm? there's a bit of evidence that could show he's lying.
