The breakaway thrust is the amount of thrust in pounds put out by the engine(s) in order to get the airplane moving from a standstill.

It takes more thrust to get an airplane moving (or accelerating) than it does to maintain a constant taxi speed.

Generally, the heavier the airplane, the more thrust is needed to "breakaway." Therefore the largest airplanes (at max gross weight) would have the highest breakaway thrust.

The highest breakaway thrust would be amongst these aircraft (not including NASA's STS.)
