The kitten is almost 2 but still very active and aggressive. The male has always been skittish and at first enjoyed the playmate but recently he won't leave the bedroom and hasn't been eating. If we carry him into the kitchen he'll eat but then bolt for the bed usually with the kitten hot on his tail. I play with her in an attempt to wear her out everyday. I'll think she is tuckered out but as soon as she sees him she gets a second wind and the chase is on. I'm very worried about the little guy and we miss having him around. Any ideas on how to train the kitten that chasing the boy is a bad thing? I know she is just playing and she adores him she just gets so excited she can't control herself. Any suggestions will be greatly appreciatted.

Give it time. Cats never get along at first and usually get used to each other with time.

Well, for the male's sake, you may consider feeding him in the bedroom, so he is not chased at the time. As for the training, the squirt of water is a really good idea. You may even try to get a pet pen, and keep both of them in it for a little while each day. You wouldn't be in there with them, but you could keep a good eye on them. At first the male will be unhappy, and maybe hiss and swat at the kitten(that's where the water might come in), but you could clip both their nails so they don't hurt each other. They should get along, but it will take time. I really hope this helps.

The only solution for you is to find a home for the kitten, otherwise the older cat will make a break and run away, the kitten is showing dominance and that is why the other male is running away, the kitten will have to be neutered and fast if you don't want to get rid of it. Make your choice either your older cat or the kitten, The choice is yours

If this is a recent change in behavior for the older cat, you might want to take him to the vet. Cats can tell when each other is sick long before we can, and they will pick on other cats that are sick, even in situations where they got along before.

It sounds like you little guy has had enough of the female cat and it sounds like he maybe alittle scare of her.you need to get this under control before your little guy doesn't want anything to do with anyone.try to get your trouble maker female away from little guy and see how he acts without her attacking him.I would do this for about 2 weeks.and i think he will do much better.

I wanna say maybe a little punishment but not too much. Like if she is way too overbearing then maybe a squirt of water every now and then when she is too playful. You know to just give her the idea of when to much play is to much. I dunno my cats don't get along either but it's the opposite, the older one puts the younger one in his place. soooooo good luck I hope it helps ;)
