I heard on a program once that the reason why dogs do that is because it clears their nosil passages and they like the wind blowing through their hair. But, yuor not suppose to let them do that because it can harm them in someway. Sorry but I don't quite remember how it harms them but I do remember that they said to keep the window down but not to low so they can stick their head out, other words keep the window high enough so the dog can't stick their head out the window but keep it cracked so they do get that "rush" that they enjoy so much. Oh and you can let them stick their head out every once in awhile but they recommend not doing it all the time, understand? Hope I am not confusing you.

Dogs always stick their heads out the window if they get a chance. They love the smells and the coolness of the air.

It's actually quite natural for dogs to want to stick they're heads out the window. They want to smell the world outside.

That you are pretty silly letting her do this. Dangerous, dangerous, why do you think it is against the law in Australia to have any part of YOUR limbs hanging out the car windows, if you get caught you will be fined.
Car accident, bang!! there goes your dogs head. Jumps out of window, bang!! there goes your dog. Never presume it won't happen to you or your dog, cause it is those that think it won't happen to that it most likely does.

Humans enjoy the wind in their faces as well (kids stick their heads out the window too), but most adult humans don't, either because they are driving or because they fear they will lose social acceptance.

Dogs love to feel the wind in their face. Just like many of us like to feel the wind touch our toes as we hang them out the window. Sounds silly but true. I love to feel the wind hit my face as a ride my horse really fast. I would think that maybe your dog likes this for the same kind of reasons. Just feels good.

Most dogs don't travel on their own, so when you take them out it is a treat. They smell all of the new scents and want to see all the new stuff. The inside of a car is pretty boring when the whole world is passing them by. It is like taking a little kid somewhere, they want to touch everything. Dogs like to smell everything new.

She knows that it feels so good to stick your head outside your window because the wind blows threw her nose and ears

dogs only have sweat glands in the nose and mouth. the a.c. doesn't do much for them so they stick their heads out the window.
