We do have vastly different perspectives on the world and universe -- relativity, quantum physics, and other scientific models as well as advances in medicine and psychology give us a world view that is vastly different, at least for Western societies. However, it's important to note that information from people like the Buddha -- information that is supposed to be used for a direct experience of reality -- seems to be timeless in that the direct experience of reality transcends world views and is the same no matter what time period or society. Why? Because world views are all about perceptual understanding based upon a dualistic thought system - world views change and get modified but in the end they are still all just concepts. Non-dualistic direct experience transcends the self and, therefore, the concepts.

I think we are, because our role as humans in the world has changed dramatically and not necessarily in a good way: we are literally eating up the planet. I would almost be wary of using the word "privileged", although there is a certain amount of that. I think our truths and myths may be getting tainted with a dramatic realization that we have violated the balance of nature. Well, now that I think about it, maybe that's also a story ingrained in our myths, such as "corrupt city being wiped out by the wrath of creator-god".
I tell you one thing: machines are definitely a modification to all mythical symbols: it's our dominion of nature starting to become almost sentient, but there's also a myth for that: "objects taking life of their own and betraying humans".
So the answer is: I think it's a new ideology, but at the end it isn't.

What is the privilege of "new" truth and "ideology" ?
There is No truth and never was here on earth. The only thing I can say about our age is we have an advanced information system which allows the lies that are told to be challenged quicker, but also allows more lies to be spread faster.

I'll venture a guess that you're referring to the notion that we all have some kind of divinity and ultimate truth inside each one of us, and that we can create our own sort of utopia based upon this self-realization. If that's what you're talking about, nothing personal, but it's been a lie since Satan told Adam and Eve that they could become like God. Wasn't true then. Isn't true now. The only way we can even reach God and know God is through the only way to reach Him and to know Him that He has provided for us, His Son Jesus. Nothing and nobody else will fulfill the reason for our lives.

Yes, we do. And with such sophisticated truths and ideologies available to us today, the greatest responsibilty is staying alive. Knowledge leads to know more of that which we are hopelessly unaware, and we thus live with an unbearable lightness of being.
