1. Yesterday sucked, today sucked, tomorrow is going to suck, and this seems to be a pretty solid forecast for the rest of my enlistment.
2. Spending 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year training for something that there is a 99.9% chance that we will never do.
3. WWWDWOA? (what would we do without acronyms?)
4. Taking simple daily tasks and breaking them down into nuclear physics before doing them.
5. Having to attend a brief prior to carrying out any task more complicated than picking my nose.
6. Being a personal servant (that's basically all I am) to any one of the 300 thousand people in the military who out-rank me.
7. Being an adult and having somebody inspect me everyday to make sure I put my clothes on properly, and put my shoes on the right feet.

8.You do not have to respect the person, you have to respect what they wear on their collar or sleeve.

8. You get to pull guard duty while a contractor does the job your train for and gets paid more than you.
9. Just when you get comfortable where your at a neat little green envelope shows up in your mail to tell you that you are going to Hood/Bragg/Drum/Korea/Benning/Reily/Rucker.
10. Just when you think about buying a house, see 9.
11. Being a personal babysitter for the should be adults that join but can't seem to make it to work on time, in the right uniform, don't want to clean there rooms and the 1001 things that privates do to make an NCOs job that much harder.
12. Having to listen to some officer tell you how to do your job, run your section or lead your soldiers because he got his college degree in underwater basket-weaving in an ROTC program while you got yours going to night school between deployments, field exercises, taking soldiers to the hospital, bring soldiers back from the bar and the hundred other things you've had to do for the last 10 years while in the military.
Heck, I don't know why anyone would want to re-up. It's a pretty crappy job and only gets worse the longer you stay in.
I think the St. Crispin's Day Speech from Shakespeare's Henry V is why.
All jobs suck, just some have honor that can't be won anywhere else.

Stable healthcare, no need to ever have to get a "real job" out here where you can be fired for lackluster performance or attitude, taking care of your family's needs through the extensive benefits network that is simply not available to citizens (unless you're an illegal immigrant), fantastic pension program, and last , but not least, doing the job that the whining, spineless, entitlement-minded sheep couldn't even dream of coping with on the best day of their entire life is a noble pursuit that the true Americans thank you and bless you for. Don't. Civilian waambulances are much nicer than the military ones.
Seriously, either spend your life pissing and moaning about how you got the short end, or be proactive, work hard, distinguish yourself to your chain of command, and go out and take what you want. If life sucks, 9 times out of 10 it's your own damned fault.

Lol - very clever!
Point 2 is incorrect at the moment though, more like a 100% chance that you WILL serve and use the training you've been given...therefore probably a very good idea not to re-enlist.

I thought and I thought and I thought, and to be honest, until some major changes happen in the current administration and "war cabinet", there is only one reason I can think of to even enlist, much less re-enlist:
That would be if you are either suicidal, or have a desire to live out the rest of your life missing a limb or two, or worse.

I just reenlisted (basically it was just an enlistment)
I did 5 years in the USAF and just crossed over to US ARMY and signed for 6.....
Obviously you can tell I am making a career out of this war or no war. Its what I love doing...

why would you reenlist? don't get me wrong, i totally support the military, but go back to college, get a four-year degree, then go and get commissioned... more money, better jobs (and your the boss!) trust me on this... i've been raised around the military (i'm a navy brat) and i've seen both sides... get a commission, don't reenlist... or if you do reenlist, go to college on the side so you get a better job eventually. but i think you have some pretty good reasons there...
