I am an American and I feel the same way! As a Christian I am called to love all people. The Jews were Gods choosen people before Christ came, He was a Jew for goodness sake! I have not ever known a mean Jew either. Many people are blaming Jews for retailiating and fighting. I can not blame them.

I love the answer from gloriashealt - the love thy neighbour bit is a quote that JC used. He took it from Rabbi Hillel, who lived 500 years before and that quote is the mainstay of Judaism today. I think the real reason is that the xtians were a heretical offshoot of Judaism. The Jews would never recognise the false messiah and that was a threat to their survival.

the probable cause for christianity's hatred of jews is insecurity. i mean when you think of it, when you claim your messiah to be the messiah that the jews prophecied in their bible and bank all your salvation on that, and the jews themselves reject your messiah for reasons that are pretty rock solid and sensible and even the smartest christian cannot argue, then that has to be scary because your entire salvation is at stake. and so, anti jewish propaganda was created to make the jews seem naive and evil for not having recognized their own messiah.
as long as judaism exists it reminds christians that they could be wrong all along, and so the jews need to be exterminated, or at the very least converted, and so you have organizations such as "Jews for Jesus", founded by and funded by christians, in which christians masquerading as jews build fake "christian synagogues" which look and feel like jewish synagogues but are christian, to help lure jews to christianity.
EDIT:
"Jew's consider themselves to be God's Chosen People"
i would also like to add that this is one of the misinterpretations created by christians to incite hatred against jews. the original christians were learned jews who had to have known that when jews say they are the "chosen people" they don't mean they are superior. in fact, our tradition says that god chose the jews because we are the weakest race on the planet, and that god chose everybody else before he EVER chose the jews. we were his last choice. the early christians knew this of course but never mention it. judaism never says we are any better than anybody, in fact we are the only biblical religion who says that you do not have to belong to our religion to get into "heaven." judaism says that anybody can get in to "heaven" as long as they are a good person. in fact, we discourage conversion in most cases because we consider converting a nonjew to judaism an UNKIND THING, since the person is already going to "heaven" anyway, why give him the burden of being jewish? judaism is one of the most ethical religions and lifestyles there is, but still we get a bad rap and the only explanation is deliberate antijewish propaganda.
and by the way i say "heaven" with quotations just to differentiate the jewish idea of heaven from the christian one

Being a minority community still they survive all difficult situations. Even they had no country of their own till 1948. Today they are flourishing in their own land. Envy is the only reason for hatred towards them. If rest of the world allows them to peacefully live in their land, the whole world will have peace.

The actual Jewish people aren't the problem...
When ANY Religion puts itself above all others, expect conflict & persecution - e.g's. The Jew's consider themselves to be God's Chosen People, so do the Roman Catholics & other Christian groups, so do the Islamist's, etc, etc, etc...
PRIDE - The Sin of the Angels...

I am not a British Jew, I am an American Jew, I can say the same thing happens in America as well, believe it or not.
Ignorance of other peoples culture is one fudament, but there are many other reasons people develop irrational hatreds.

brendan w,
The first two posts were right in my opinion.
As near as I can put it, the devil is still trying to make God into a liar, and by defeating the Jew, some of God's promises would fall to the ground. The devil is that fanatical.

Read your bible dear, after they crucified Jesus, God said he would take away his hand of protection from them and they would suffer all the days of their lives, and they have, serves them right. They were once God's chosen people not anymore. They don't even believe that Jesus ever came, they are still waiting for him. There were only a few who believed, including the disciples. That is why they only have the first part part of the Bible, They have been cancelled. Jesus did that by giving us just 2 -'thou shalt love the lord thy God' and 'love thy neighbour', so if you obey these two the other 10 are automatically obeyed.
So if God has turned away from them who are we to question it.

It's not the jewish people who get slated, it's the zionists who wish to control the world (they already control the Whitehouse and most of the media so we don't get balanced coverage of world events). As usual, it's the extremists who spoil it for the 'normal, nice' people.
