Typically conservative treatments are employed to either slow or stop the degree to which the spine curves. These may involve any combination of back braces, physical therapy and exercise. Many people experience mild levels of scoliosis that slow or stop as they get older.
For those who show no improvement through conservative treatment, surgery is usually the route taken, though it is a last resort.

hey i had scoliosis
7 years back i had a major surgery and am doing fine now
my type was scoliosis thoracis
pls consult a bone specialist because delay in the treatment may lead to permanent bending of spine which is dangerous to operate
my spine was bent badly because i have marfan's syndrome and in this case the bones will b soft and bones grow faster,so there won't b any space for the spinal bone to grow so it starts bending.
it should b operated before it gets worse
i have rods attached to my spinal cord and one more thing it wont b 100% normal like others but there will b a little curve left which cant b straightened
operation is only solution
i had 2 options
either they will remove the ribs of back ,which will take many years to grow and at that time the spine will b straigt
and the second option was to directly operate on the spine and atthch the rods
ohh i have a big surgical mark from the nape of my neck to the tail of the spine.
hope for the best and evrything will b fine

I don't think it can be "cured" but it can be corrected with back braces and even extensive surgery of inserting a rod near the spine to help it straighten out. I have scoliosis but it is too slight to do anything drastic. I do have pain from it on occasion and when I had an epidural it took the doctor 9 times to get it in because of the spacing in my spine. He said he never had that happen to him before.

I have Scoliosis. There really is no cure. I wore a brace until I was 11 then had a steel rod placed next to my spine to hold it straight.

hi i'm a nurse, from what i know scoliosis can be corrected thru surgery depending on the severity, however the procedure is very delicate and often very costly. Physical therapy may also help.

It isn't cured, but it is treated with exercises if it is mild and surgery if it is not.
