I know I've been depressed & drained, but it's bad enough that I don't have the energy to take a bath or brush my teeth. I know I'm overweight. I love to and want to take a bath, but I just can't. Am I just overly depressed? Please don't call me nasty. This is serious. Please don't be rude.

I'm so depressed that I don't have the energy to do daily things normally.

Since what's inside you may take a long time to heal, why don't you try to improve your mood little by little.? How? By exercising, which could really improve your weight problem. Treat yourself to a beautiful view of the beach.... wonderful relaxing option! If your problem is really worse, think this.

"Everyday, I improve at least one aspect of my life... even just a little one as long as I improve something...."

Take it easy and don't forget to smell the roses!

Yes it's chronic depression if you don't feel like doing anything especially not washing and what's more something you love doing!!! If you're overweight and that is what is causing your depression, and you don't have a thyroid or some other health problem - try working out at the gym and try cutting down on sugar and starch - i.e. high protein diet. Have say 1 biscuit or small slice of bread a day and that's it - then 1 meal a week you can have sugar and starch - that speeds up your metabolism, but you must exercise. Another thing you really should do is see a psychologist, you really need to get over your depression.
Take care.

Please seek medical help. There may be several factors going on here. Before you start any diet or exercise regimen you need to have a physical. You don't want to make another problem appear for not being ready. Besides, if you are overweight, if you have high blood pressure it can cause a stroke and/or kidney damage. The kidneys don't fix themselves.
After you seek medical advice and possibly meds for depression. Find a good friend to do the exercise part with you. It is easier to walk and talk than it is to do it by yourself. A buddy will help keep you energized to keep going. It is not easy by any means. I know I'm hear now. Gone thru divorce, loss of job and just broke up with boyfriend of 3 years. But, It has to get better. Chin up! When you exercise it sends endorphins just like sex and choclate makes you feel better. The more you exercise the more energy you will eventually will have. Some people are addicted to it. Good luck and well be rooting for ya! PS goto bath and body works and treat yourself to something fantastic!

Depression is a serious condition that cannot be ignored.

If you can't afford to visit a doctor get yourself some books on depression. Once you understand its causes you might be able to help yourself out of it.

I watched a friend self destruct over depression and he went through a living hell because he didn't understand and didn't get help for a long time. He wasted a whole year of his life by not doing anything about it.

You deserve better than that. Depression may be the reason you are overweight or the overweight has helped cause the depression. There are many causes.

Get angry, get moving and get help. You will be glad you did.

Hiking. Whenever I have free time with friends, we talk and hike. That air smells really nice up there.

Listening to music, getting in the groovy mood, and jump and dance! Haha, whenever I feel depressed, I listen to a bouncy, fun, music I like and dance.

Even if you can't take a bath, take one. Grab a really funny book to laugh and entertain, maybe some fruit to eat, a phone to talk with friends, and drop a few scented oil pills into the tub. Or you can have some alone time and just sit there and think. Even you don't feel like have one, taking one just might be the cure.

Borrow some books on pilates or yoga from your libary. In the morning, you can stretch and try them. Sometimes trying something new can amuse you. I did that once on a morning weekend. Felt really great, even though I'm not flexible.

Don't stay in your house all the time. Try getting out more, trying new things, laughing, getting upbeat, and most important, forgeting about being depressed.

Good luck!

I know you have been having a very hard time lately. You sound like you are stuck. When one is overwhelmed and stuck in that way ( I call it paralyzed when I get like that- I can't move or do anything) then you must get help to stop the downward spiral. If you are in such a state that you can't figure out who or how to call.. call info 411 or the operator 0. They can give you some numbers that could help. When you are extremely scared go ahead and call 911 for an ambulance to take you to a hospital so you will be safe and taken care of until you are able to again. Each year there are better treatments and medications that can alleviate your suffering and let you get your life back.
People Want to help you....let them
You are so worth it.

You could have CFS, Chronic Fetigue Symdrom. It is a condition when you feel too drained to do anything. It is not always diagnoised, though. It was even the main plot to an episode of the Golden Girls. Try to consult a doctor or physologist. Even looking it up on wikipedia or google would be a good idea.

I hope it al works out, what ever it is. Remember, don't ever be scared to go to the doctor or phscologist!

depression may only be a symptom. I live with a person who is quite depressed about her weight. she has gone from 98 pounds to 220 because she used prednisone. the original problem is still there she stopped using the med but retained the weight. go see a shrink and get some anti-depressants possibly. not having energy my be something else adding to the depression. don't mess with it get help. but don't believe doctors are gods. take charge of your health. you have to do your own research, tell them what you need. good luck.

Depression can have many causes ranging from situational to chemical imbalances in the brain. I was in therapy for 20 years, and it turns out that my entire family has a heredity chemical imbalance. The drugs took care of the problem for me.
Remember, these are not 'happy pills' and you must have an imbalance for them to work. I would go to a professional. Do you know how much money I wasted on therapy?
